Daughter Ginny' quilt 1984-2007!

Started in 1984 for college graduation gift. Didn't get it done so put it away. Joined quilting group in 1998; brought it out in 2007, and took it apart, then put it back together again the right way! I had learned so much more in 9 years about how to make a quilt. It had been 23 years since I had started it, and it was my 23rd project to be finished!

I watched the Georgia Bonesteel Lap Quilting shows back then and thought "I can do this." But 23 years later when I took it apart, I really knew that it was a blessing I'd never finished it! I took all the batting and backing off each square, then 'squared' them up and rearranged the design and put it all back together. The borders were not a part of it when I stopped back in 1984, so that did not create any problems. I do have more UFOs but this was definitely the oldest!

A lot of "Ginny’s" on this page!  Congratulations on completing the quilt! As we all know, only you can see any flaws there may be.  Thank so much for sharing the history of this quilt. I just finished the quilt I made for my son's college graduation quilt last week! It was my first quilt in 20 years, took it apart four times, put it away four times, tried to convince him it was evil and I should make a new one using the same colors, he wasn’t buying it. I finally pulled it out again on 12/27, broke my toe as I was carrying it across the room when I didn’t see my sewing machine on the floor where son left it on 12/24 after carrying up the stairs for me.  My husband laughed out loud when I told him the evil quilt was now causing bodily harm. I finished it on 12/29 with a sense of humor and appreciation of how far my skills have come. Son loves it. No pictures of the quilt but a great one of my toe.
