I use wool sweaters that have gone thru the wash and dry cycle, this keeps them from fraying out when they have been cut.   I have been doing this project for about 20 years.    I have 4  patterns, some of which I have designed.   Each pair are unique, and are lined with polar fleece.  I try to make them for people I know, and size them around that persons size, and color preference.  I also use one of the patterns for chopper linners. (not shown).  They are machine washable.

What a wonderful recycling idea.  We quilters are the original recyclers

I just purchased a 100% woven wool skirt at the thrift store and have taken all the stitching out. Now I'm about to throw it in

the washer to shrink it.  This was a great buy as the skirt was on the $1.00 rack.  I hope it turns out as I planned, as it has pleats in it.
