I was sorting throug my stash a few years ago and noticed that I seemed to have an abundance of Yellow/Orange/Red and Blue/Purple.I grabbed my rotery cutter and chopped a mountain of squares, big and small, and randomly pieced them together. Then I handed the pile of blocks to the kids and told them to figure out a lay-out. In a weeks time we had a top...but finding a border for it!! That was a nightmare! It sat in the closet waiting to be finished for months before, on a fluke,  I saw the perfect batik in the sale bin of my favorite quilt shop! I wasn't even looking with that top in mind when I found it!

That's so cute Chocake. What a great way to get them involved in the process.

CC the border fabric is perfect!  And out of the sale bin was a plus, good job!  Your kids did an awesome job on the layout, kudos to them.

I so love that you involved the younger often we are so intent and rigid in what we expect out of a project that we don't let the fun happen. If they are having fun, they may want to do it as adults. If not they will at least have a fun memory!
