Christmas Triptych - in blues

the pieces can be purchased - they come pre-cut with iron-on to add to your own material choice. I sewed down the black (just don't trust the iron on to stay), then shadow quilted using invisible thread. Added a few embellishments on haloes, stars and kings. Made bias tape binding (so it would like nice around the top curve). Also used floral wiring to help the top keep shape when hanging. Hangers are cafe curtain rings, one per hanging.

(the entire wall hanging is on left, close-up on right) I bought the pattern but NOT the panel; made my own panel with some fussy cut stuff from other mat'l. Quilted ghosts on the panel part (notice the ghost in the upper window). Then did stitch in the ditch on the half-square triangles. Despite measuring over & over, everything did not quite fit as nicely as I would've hoped.

We have visited Alaska many times, for pleasure and for work. I saw this and just had to get one to make for Al - it had trains on it too!

we made this for friends who had grown up and lived in Japan. I discovered that working with satins was not my thing. And the directions for doing this as a bargello were really hard to understand - I got help from the ladies at Quality Sewing.

Walk of the Animals

This material came from a Sew Expo booth where the lady was selling things to support women's causes in Africa. The animals are had-painted (and not washable). It was my own design to put the wall hanging together to get to use the wonderful prints.
