this is from a Christmas tree table cover I have a pattern for (trees in place of the stars) and I thought I could make 'wonky' stars and have a nice red, white & blue table topper.

center of stars was a BOM from a quilt shop that was closing; that mat'l was the same. In order to finish, my dear husband & I spent some time at another great quilt shop & got the outside part of the stars, the borders, etc. It came out great! It will be a graduation gift to a young man this June.

Road to Edinburgh - Stars over Scotland

After we visited Scotland, I found this pattern at the Quilt Show in Washington (that would be the state, NOT DC). The plaids are from Scotland (it was really HARD to find a fabric store there). The backing is plaid, but I purchased it here. This is a loved quilt (it went to our god-daughter) who, unfortunately, has to have it dry cleaned since the plaids from Scotland are wool.

Stars on the Courthouse Steps

Buggy Barn method of star making and courthouse step making. Used a bunch of the fat quarter I had, so didn't need to purchase any mat'l for the front until I needed binding. Piano key border made from leftover strips. Quilted (cloud-type quilting) by a professional quilter and friend (wouldn't begin to fit with my machine or space available.)
