Before the holidays, she would come over to sew blocks together for me. This table runner is made from strips from one of my scrappy baskets. She called this afternoon to say she loved it and it fit the table perfectly.

Birthday Stash 2012

I belong to two birthday clubs; and since I can't distinguish what came from who, I just photographed it all together. I can now make the Eleanor Burns sampler quilt from the "Egg Money" book. I've been collecting at home and with the 30/40's fabric I received here, I should have enough. With the purples and greens and with what I've collected at home I have enough to make both the pansy table topper and table runner for my bedroom.

Thank you my dear quilty friends for my new stash! Hugs,

This Starring Pumpkin Table Runner from Blooming Minds Half to Have is one of the projects I completed in about 1 hour. It will work perfectly on my breakfast bar in the kitchen. It is machine applique and machine quilted. It could easily be done by hand as well.

Lover's Knot Table Runner

I just finished piecing this table runner. Tomorrow hopefully I can get it quilted and the binding on. I need to have it finished for Saturday's Christmas party. It's for my best friend Jan who is coming to spend the weekend.

The pattern is from Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day Lover's Knot Quilt. It is strip piecing. For me, I found that I really had to concentrate. It took me three starts before I finally figured it out. But part of my problem was my lights, mediums, and darks. There's those values again. I was using them in a different order to get the black fabric where I wanted it. I've said it before patterns are only suggestions! Once I set up a chart on each page of the instructions, I was set and got the top put together in 2 days.

The fabrics are from Robert Kaufman's Holiday Flourish collection. There is a lot of metallic in the fabric, but I love the look. Actually Jan picked out the fabric. She had asked for a table runner for her birthday present. This is actually a belated birthday present.

Just a little note: Jan is the receipient of the Elvis quilt that you can find in my gallery. Her Christmas present this year is 2 (not 1, but 2) cardboard stand ups of Elvis!
