He joined my snowman collection. It's the winter to the fall...see my pumpkin wallhanging. I don't have the spring and summer. A friend of mine gets the pattern, shows them to me and I borrow when I fall in love with it. The snowman is all machine applique which is also the quilting. Embellishments include the black buttons for coal, snowflake buttons, embroidery floss for the fringe, a carrot button for the nose, hand embroidery for stick arms, mouth, and eyes.

Trellis Garden

I'm calling my version of this quilt "Trellis Garden". It is for my 7th grandchild, Cora who was born September 12, 2011. The pattern comes from the September/October 2011 McCall's Quilting issue and is called "I Believe in Pink". It is a scrappy quilt using snowball and star blocks. The butterfly flight paths and antennae are hand embroidered. The butterflies and flowers are machine applique on my version. My machine applique is also part of the quilting process. The rest of the quilting is stitch in the ditch to follow the trellis which I extended out into the borders.
