Another scrappy quilt and the second of 12 going to the retreat center in Arizona. The words are machine applique.

This quilt is a block left over from a quilt I'm making. I ran out of the yellow so had to substitute another yellow. To make the original quilt look balanced I ended up with 2 extra blocks. It is made mostly from scraps. Another quilt being donated by the Ohio Chapter of Reap What You Sew.

Stripes Table Runner

I made this table runner for a friend who has been coming over or calling to check on me. Before the holidays, she would come over to sew blocks together for me. This table runner is made from strips from one of my scrappy baskets. She called this afternoon to say she loved it and it fit the table perfectly.

Mug Snack Mats

Found this idea on-line one day while looking for something different for gifts. There's the place for your coffee mug and the rest of the space is for your snack such as a muffin. I've made up several for Christmas. They are very easy to make and it's another way to use up those scraps. I have one friend who only drinks water, so I had to be a little more creative with hers.

Lil Sheriff

This is my first angel wrap for next year's Reap What You Sew. The center square is a little sheriff on his trusty horse. All the squares with horses and/or cowboys are flannel. All the other blocks are of cotton.

This years distribution on November 13 was 2800+ quilts. It's the highest number of quilts given out yet. I'm so proud to be a part of this group even if I am in Ohio. I still send down a few quilts a year.

June BOM Mini Quilt

This month's mini quilt I made completely from scraps. The birdhouse are pieces leftover from a border from one of the recent round robin quilts that I worked on. I love the copper 'tin' roof that is made from a piece of fabric that has quite a story behind it. Too long to go into here, but it went into the quilt call "Sheila's Girls" that you find in my gallery. The flowers were not part of the pattern but were added after I got the mini quilt completely together. I noticed that the brown pieces were part of the salvage and little holes were showing. Rather than take the quilt apart, I just added the flowers that are made from leftover fabric from May's mini quilt border. The birds are made from fabric leftover from a throw pillow I made for my guest room. The blue background fabric is leftover from another quilt project that I'm working on for my church in Arizona.

Beacon of Light

Here is my first Round Robin quilt which I call Beacon of Light. It will be going to my daughter-in-law, who has grown in her faith by leaps and bounds over the past two years. Last summer when I was battling over grandparent rights to see 2 of my grandchildren, she was there supporting me. We cried and prayed together...all long distance...she's in California and I'm in Ohio. That is why I call her my Beacon of Light. I gave her the verse Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp...

The house in the center of the quilt represents that there will always be a welcoming Beacon of Light for her and the children in my home.

The ladies in this Round Robin put so much thought, care, and love into this quilt that I cannot begin to thank them. The quilt is beyond anything I could have hoped for. When I took it to the longarm this weekend, tears came to her eyes and she hadn't even heard the story behind the quilt. Ladies you did a marvelous job. I can't wait to post the finished quilt.

May mini-quilt of the month. I'm really enjoying this block of the month club this year. The mini quilts are going to make the best Christmas gift for one of my daughters-in-law. I've been posting them in my facebook album and she comments on them each month. I have to laugh when I read her comments because I know she is going to love her Christmas present!! Again made mostly from scraps that I had on hand; but I bought 2 fat quarters for the borders and backing. They are perfect for this month's mini-quilt. I used machine applique.

"Quilt of Joy"

At our church we have a secret sister program. My secret sister this past year has been like Santa Claus. Every time I got a package it was like Christmas and was so joyous. She spoiled me! There were always books, figures or something with sunflowers, a music box, a musical Christmas egg, CDs, Civil War jigsaw puzzle, Civil War movies, set of sunflower coffee mugs, raisin oatmeal cookies, and the list goes on and on. She was so very generous. Today (May 5, 2012) was our garden party and the time we reveal who our secret sisters are. When she revealed herself to me, she received a surprise in return. This "Quilt of Joy". I was so excited when I gave it to her that I forgot to take a photo of the finished quilt. So this photo is before I actually quilted it. I'll have to call her and see if I can get a photo.

The quilt is made from scraps and leftover fabric from other projects. All fabrics are 100% cotton. It is my own design, led by the Holy Spirit. I had no control; it took on a life of it's own. It is machine pieced and quilted.

Here is the April selection for the mini quilt BOM that I belong to. I really had fun making this one because the fabrics in my stash were just perfect! I also love making these mini quilts because I love to do machine applique, use scraps, and I'm going to have a super Christmas gift for someone at Christmas time!

Scrappy Mug Rug

This scrappy mug rug can also be used as a candle mat. It is paper pieced. I was using machine embroidery stitches to embellish the fan design and forgot to stop! This is for my Secret Sister. Shhh! Don't tell her, okay? It's a secret.
