Here's a pinwheel quilt that I did for charity. It too is made from scraps. It is machine quilted.

Fishes and Loaves

Also known as 2-1/2 x 4-1/2. I just cut and cut and cut. I guess that's why it's called Fishes and Loaves. You never run out of pieces, no matter how hard you try! You can lay the blocks out in so many different ways and no 2 quilts look the same. You can make the quilts any size you want. Good use of scraps. I've machine quilted and I've tied. Children and grown-ups alike love these quilts. They look at all the different fabrics and always can pick out something that reminds them of something else. It's cool to see their eyes light up.

This is a special quilt for a special friend. I had traced the hand prints of my friend's daughter and granddaughters and finally had to ask her for her hand print. I told her to ask no questions, but she would find out later. This quilt was the result. At the base of each hand print is a heart with their name and birthdate in machine embroidery. On the back, the label is my hand print. The quilt is machine applique and machine quilted. The fabrics reflects some of my friend's hobbies...fossils, collecting geckos, and her favorite colors.

Mila's Fishes and Loaves

This pattern is known as Fishes and Loaves (also as 2-1/2 x 4-1/2). It a great pattern for using up scraps. It's one of my favorites for charity quilts. For this particular quilt I had four fabrics and just couldn't think of of another quilt pattern to use. Besides I needed to make it quick. And there are so many ways you can lay out the blocks. Mila is one of my youngest grand-daughters and is a little cutie.

Made this several years ago for one of my best friends who just loves Elvis! The pattern is called "Crazy Log Cabin".

I saw this quilt being made on Fons and Porter and I just couldn't wait for my magazine to arrive to make it!! It is a paper pieced quilt and is a bit time consuming, but what fun! You cut 2 blocks at the same time and is rotary cutting. You do have to concentrate to keep everything in order. But I loved making this quilt.

This quilt went to my oldest grandson, Christopher. The fabrics I chose are definately bright! The quilt is machine quilted with stars.
