When I asked Mark what they wanted, he said "an Irish plaid quilt, but please don't take 10 years to make it!" The first quilt I made him was a Dresden plate that I originally started by piecing by hand. He got that quilt not long before he got married! I did not finish that quilt by hand piecing!! Anyway, this is the result of his request for an Irish plaid quilt. It is all flannel, pre-washed of course, flannel backing. machine pieced, and machine quilted. If I remember correctly, they were 8" squares laid out 12 rows with 9 blocks to a row. It was very simple. I appliqued a heart with their names and wedding date. They love the quilt! It has seen a lot of use after 6 years and 3 kids later.
