Grandson Quinn loves dinosaurs. So the 2 preprinted panels with coordinating fabrics was perfect. I can't wait to give it to him and to see his face. 100% cotton, machine pieced and machine quilted.

Charity Quilt 2

This quilt is a block left over from a quilt I'm making. I ran out of the yellow so had to substitute another yellow. To make the original quilt look balanced I ended up with 2 extra blocks. It is made mostly from scraps. Another quilt being donated by the Ohio Chapter of Reap What You Sew.

2012 Amish Retreat Exchange Block Quilt

Here is my version of last year's Amish Retreat exchange blocks. Everyone was to choose an Amish pattern. Somehow we ended up with some extras, so I ended up with a nice sized quilt. I have decided to donate my quilt to Standing Stones Retreat Center in Arizona. They counsel ministers and their spouses and military chaplains. When my friend Dave put out a list of items they were seeking donations for, one of the items was 12 quilts. I sent off an email immediately volunteering 12 quilts and within the hour Dave called me and said there was no rush because he knew my work and was willing to wait for it. The Amish Retreat Exchange Block Quilt is the first completed quilt. We had a lot of fun at last year's retreat. This year's retreat is June 19-22 and will be held at The Rural Thimble in Charm, Ohio.

Autumn Table Runner

This autumn table runner is for my neighbor Audrey who is always doing things for me or taking me to CVS or grocery store. The runner is made from 100% cotton, is machine pieced and quilted.

Spiderman for Son and Dad

My friend Jan wanted a Spiderman quilt for one of her nephews...nice and easy preprinted panel, backing and quilt on the machine. OK got it done on the weekend that she was staying. No problem. Her nephew loved it......problem. So did Dad. Yes Dad had the quilt more than the poor little boy could have it. So Jan calls and asks if we could do it all over again. She couldn't get the same print at the first and we actually liked it better. So nephew got the nicer quilt in the end!

"Quilt of Joy"

At our church we have a secret sister program. My secret sister this past year has been like Santa Claus. Every time I got a package it was like Christmas and was so joyous. She spoiled me! There were always books, figures or something with sunflowers, a music box, a musical Christmas egg, CDs, Civil War jigsaw puzzle, Civil War movies, set of sunflower coffee mugs, raisin oatmeal cookies, and the list goes on and on. She was so very generous. Today (May 5, 2012) was our garden party and the time we reveal who our secret sisters are. When she revealed herself to me, she received a surprise in return. This "Quilt of Joy". I was so excited when I gave it to her that I forgot to take a photo of the finished quilt. So this photo is before I actually quilted it. I'll have to call her and see if I can get a photo.

The quilt is made from scraps and leftover fabric from other projects. All fabrics are 100% cotton. It is my own design, led by the Holy Spirit. I had no control; it took on a life of it's own. It is machine pieced and quilted.

Indy's Sampler Quilt

I've made Indy placemats and pillowcases, so of course, he had to have a quilt too. I couldn't think of any one pattern. For Christmas a friend gave me a quilt book with various blocks in it and I've been wanting to make some of the blocks. Indy's quilt has 9 of those blocks. When I started the blocks, Indy was really sick. He would lay by my sewing table and as I finished each block I would show it to him. He gave his tail 1 wag and licked the block. I think that was his seal of approval. The block titles are Ohio Star, Ohio Snowflake, Friendship Star, Twisted Star, Windblown Puzzle (modified), 12 Triangles, Handweave, Garden of Eden, and Kaleidoscope. As soon as I finished the quilt this afternoon, I put it down for Indy to see and he immediately sat right in the middle and possed for pictures!! I think he likes it.

Time & Again Mini Quilt

Time & Again mini quilt pattern from American Patchwork & Quilting, February 2011 issue, finished size 16-3/4". The navy blue fabric is Moda, the rest of the fabric comes from 2 fat quarters, 100% cotton. The quilt is machine pieced and quilted. I'm making a few mini quilts for my secret sister for reveal day the first Saturday of May. She can either use them on a table or hang them on the wall. I will put a sleeve on the back of them should she want to hang them. I've given her gifts throughout the year, but if I gave her quilted gifts it would give it away who I was. So I've been saving quilty things for reveal day. Hope she likes them.

APQ 2012 Mystery Quilt Blk 2

I've made up the mystery quilt block from scraps and plan to give it as a candle mat to my secret sister in May. The pattern came from American Patchwork & Quilting April 2012 issue. I had to download the instructions from allpeoplequilt.com.

Flight of the Butterflies

This is granddaughter Hanna's 6th birthday quilt of my own design. It is simillar to baby sister Cora's quilt "Trellis Garden". I used some of the same fabrics and the same butterflies and flowers. That is where the resemblance stops. I made snowball blocks. The blocks that did not have machine appliqued butterflies or flowers in I quilted outlines of butterflies and flowers. The label has a photo of Hanna laying in the grass taken last summer.

Psalm 23 Wall Hanging

I just finished Psalm 23 Wall Hanging in time to put in my suitcase. It is a Christmas present for my Pastor in Arizona. It is a preprinted panel with pieced borders and is machine quilted. I used watercolor fabrics.

Starring Pumpkin Table Runner

I spent some time on Thanksgiving Day just working on some of my own projects. This Starring Pumpkin Table Runner from Blooming Minds Half to Have is one of the projects I completed in about 1 hour. It will work perfectly on my breakfast bar in the kitchen. It is machine applique and machine quilted. It could easily be done by hand as well.

Trellis Garden

I'm calling my version of this quilt "Trellis Garden". It is for my 7th grandchild, Cora who was born September 12, 2011. The pattern comes from the September/October 2011 McCall's Quilting issue and is called "I Believe in Pink". It is a scrappy quilt using snowball and star blocks. The butterfly flight paths and antennae are hand embroidered. The butterflies and flowers are machine applique on my version. My machine applique is also part of the quilting process. The rest of the quilting is stitch in the ditch to follow the trellis which I extended out into the borders.

Trash to Treasure

My friend, Lynda has a very special employee named Edye. Two summers ago before I moved back to Ohio I came home for the summer. I spent one week at Lynda's shop and made this quilt on one of the spare commercial machines. Edye was just fascinated as the quilt went together. I got this pattern from the Reap What You Sew group in Phoenix. It is made from scrappy strips of fabric sewn together (I already had this step done before I came to Ohio.), which are then cut into triangles. The white fabric is bleached muslin, but you can use anything. I just happened to have a lot of muslin on hand. I used a paw print for the border and backing because Edye loves animals and has a couple cats. The corner blocks are black and has the word meow in various colors. The quilt is machine quilted stitch in the ditch. Eyde was in awe by the time the quilt was completed. Lynda embroidered a label for me on one of her commercial embroidery machines after Edye went home. The next day at lunch time I presented the quilt to Edye. It was my way of saying thank you for running Lynda's shop while she came out to Arizona for 2 weeks after I got out of rehab to take care of me. Edye was so overwhelmed that she just cried, because she had no idea that the quilt was for her. By the way, she loves the quilt.

Notice: You end up with pinwheel and square in a square blocks.
