Shhhhh! This teapot table runner is for my secret sister, but she won't get it until the Garden Party in May. The center is a purchased panel. I added the appliqued vine and the pink floral border.

Mini Sewing Quilts

A mini quilt with sewing tools is so cute that I couldn't resist buying the pattern. I'm making them with 100% cotton fabric that also has sewing motifs. I'm going to have a few surprised quilty friends when they get these. Shhh...it's a surprise!

Smile and Giggle Pillows

The smile pillow was really one of 3 wall hangings. I was making these for 3 good friends and I thought they wouldn't want these on their walls...I wouldn't want them on my walls. But they would make adorable pillows so that's exactly what I did and they loved them! At Hobby Lobby I found pillow forms that were just 2" too long, but I was able to stuff it down in there and it filled out the pillow cover nicely. Unfortunately, I was only able to get a photo of two of the pillows.The pillows are made from 100% cotton, machine applique, and machine pieced.The open end is closed with buttons so they can take the cover off and wash if necessry.

This is my round robin quilt. I made the center square using machine applique. The girls did a fantastic job on the rest. It just came back from the quilter and I have to put the binding on yet. My brother Rick and wife Susan are going to be surprised. I want to wait till Christmas but don't know if I can!!

Easter Banner

I have made this banner for many churches. This particular one hangs at Holy Cross Luthern in Scottsdale, AZ. I have always used a purple background and always try to find fabric that resembles wood. I've made the banner with and without the words "He is Risen". Either way I think the message comes across rather well. Below is a close up of the detail of the flowers at the base of the cross.

May mini-quilt of the month. I'm really enjoying this block of the month club this year. The mini quilts are going to make the best Christmas gift for one of my daughters-in-law. I've been posting them in my facebook album and she comments on them each month. I have to laugh when I read her comments because I know she is going to love her Christmas present!! Again made mostly from scraps that I had on hand; but I bought 2 fat quarters for the borders and backing. They are perfect for this month's mini-quilt. I used machine applique.

Here is the April selection for the mini quilt BOM that I belong to. I really had fun making this one because the fabrics in my stash were just perfect! I also love making these mini quilts because I love to do machine applique, use scraps, and I'm going to have a super Christmas gift for someone at Christmas time!

Mini Quilt BOM Jan thru March 2012

I joined a mini quilt BOM club while I was in Arizona. I didn't start them till I got back home to Ohio because I kept thinking of fabric in my stash. It only took me a weekend to finish the 3 months. All 3 are made from scraps and are machine applique. By the end of the year there will be a mini quilt for each month. I think it would make a nice Christmas gift for one of my daughters-in-law. I'll have to toss a coin to determine who gets them!

Flight of the Butterflies

This is granddaughter Hanna's 6th birthday quilt of my own design. It is simillar to baby sister Cora's quilt "Trellis Garden". I used some of the same fabrics and the same butterflies and flowers. That is where the resemblance stops. I made snowball blocks. The blocks that did not have machine appliqued butterflies or flowers in I quilted outlines of butterflies and flowers. The label has a photo of Hanna laying in the grass taken last summer.

Luther Rose Pulpit Cloth

My Pastor in Arizona always wanted a pulpit cloth with the Luther Rose on it. He was always telling me that. So finally I decided I would make one. I presented this to him when I moved back to Ohio. Sometimes it is on the altar and sometimes it is on the lectern. Here is a close up...

Pansy Chair Pad

I had to replace the cane chair seat in my antique chair. Since I don't do caning, I decided to replace the seat with a padded seat instead. I machine appliqued the pansy design on damask and placed over padding on a piece of plywood, then stapled to the back. To finish the edges, I glued braid all the way around.
