I just cut and cut and cut. I guess that's why it's called Fishes and Loaves. You never run out of pieces, no matter how hard you try! You can lay the blocks out in so many different ways and no 2 quilts look the same. You can make the quilts any size you want. Good use of scraps. I've machine quilted and I've tied. Children and grown-ups alike love these quilts. They look at all the different fabrics and always can pick out something that reminds them of something else. It's cool to see their eyes light up.

Scrappy Quilts for Charity

Here are some of my scrappy quilts. I take 6-1/2 squares of muslin and sew strips laying diagonally in the middle from corner to corner. Then attach strips working outwards. When done, trim square to the muslin 6-1/2 square. When you have enough squares, connect in any manner you desire to the desired size quilt. I find that either a red or yellow border looks best because it makes the other colors pop. Most of the time I use red. I machine quilt all of these quilts usually on the diagonal.

Sheila's Girls

This is a special quilt for a special friend. I had traced the hand prints of my friend's daughter and granddaughters and finally had to ask her for her hand print. I told her to ask no questions, but she would find out later. This quilt was the result. At the base of each hand print is a heart with their name and birthdate in machine embroidery. On the back, the label is my hand print. The quilt is machine applique and machine quilted. The fabrics reflects some of my friend's hobbies...fossils, collecting geckos, and her favorite colors.

Ohio Star Lap Quilt

This Ohio Star quilt is quilted with an Ohio Star motif. And there are so many ways you can lay out the blocks. It is a paper pieced quilt and is a bit time consuming, but what fun! You cut 2 blocks at the same time and is rotary cutting. You do have to concentrate to keep everything in order. But I loved making this quilt.

This quilt went to my oldest grandson, Christopher. The fabrics I chose are definately bright! The quilt is machine quilted with stars.

9 Lives of the Whyte Kat - Corner Block

I just had to show you the corner block. She is always telling of his adventures and I think he's used up his 9 lives! This is a paper pieced pattern, but goes quickly. I machine stitched the whiskers and machine appliqued the nose, eyes, and words. Actually the words were not part of the pattern. The quilt is machine quilted. It is also made completely from scraps except for the backing.
