Fishes and Loaves

Also known as 2-1/2 x 4-1/2. I just cut and cut and cut. I guess that's why it's called Fishes and Loaves. You never run out of pieces, no matter how hard you try! You can lay the blocks out in so many different ways and no 2 quilts look the same. You can make the quilts any size you want. Good use of scraps. I've machine quilted and I've tied. Children and grown-ups alike love these quilts. They look at all the different fabrics and always can pick out something that reminds them of something else. It's cool to see their eyes light up.

Scrappy Quilts for Charity

Here are some of my scrappy quilts. I take 6-1/2 squares of muslin and sew strips laying diagonally in the middle from corner to corner. Then attach strips working outwards. When done, trim square to the muslin 6-1/2 square. When you have enough squares, connect in any manner you desire to the desired size quilt. I find that either a red or yellow border looks best because it makes the other colors pop. Most of the time I use red. I machine quilt all of these quilts usually on the diagonal.

Preemie Quilts

Reap What You Sew is a quilt group in Phoenix, AZ that makes quilts all year and distributes mostly to children's charities. These are some of the preemie quilts I made with donated materials. People are always giving me materials because they know I quilt for charity. I'm also known as the "queen of scraps" at RWYS.

Lil' Cowboys

Here is another quilt I had the priviledge to make for our Women in Missions convention. It was also donated to the local pregnancy crisis center at the end of the convention. It is machine quilted. The blocks are 9 patch and snowball.

OSU Buckeyes

My son wanted an OSU Buckeyes quilt for his 3rd son, so I created this quilt. There is machine applique as well as machine embroidery. The quilt is machine quilted. I've also made this as a wall hanging for a friend.

Quinn Has Arrived

I made this when my grandson Quinn was born. Pattern came from Quilter's World (Oct. 2003), but it was a Halloween wall hanging. I thought it was so cute. So I added some borders, didn't use Halloween fabrics, and put Quinn's birth announcement in the moon. It was a lot of cutting and machine applique, but that is my thing. It is machine quilted with stars. My daughter-in-law loved it!

Puppies in a Square

The pattern is Court House Steps and is a good up to use up scraps. This quilt is machine quilted.

Sing to the Lord

Our Women in Mission has a convention every couple years. I have had the honor of being asked to make the quilt/banner to represent our local group. At the end of the convention the quilts are given to the local pregnancy crisis center. This quilt has machine applique, machine quilting that echos the wording in the center. Two of the fabrics have musical instruments and bugs playing musical instruments. The design is my own. God has been merciful and given me grace since my car accident 4 years ago, so I consider this a very special honor to have been asked to make this quilt.

Mila's Starz

Another stars quilts...this time for my grand-daughter Mila. This one is paper pieced and machine appliqued; and the quilt is machine quilted with stars. The pattern is from Quilt It for Kids, 2003.
