Boice

This 70" X 83" Scottie Dog quilt, consists of 13 1/2" set on point blocks, and scrappy fabrics not usually used for Scotty dogs (Plaids). The 100% cotton fabrics were randomly chosen from my "stash". The batting is also 100% cotton Warn N' Natural. The pieced Scottie Dog blocks were hand cut, the rest was rotary cut. It was Machine pieced on my Singer 735 Touch N' Sew machine. I really enjoyed piecing this quilt. I decided I wanted the Dogs to have bow ties so I added folded ribbon bow ties and used a button for an eye on each Scotty.

It was Machine Quilted by Debra Ledbetter in Pulaski, TN.

My Granddaughter, Danielle, who was fifteen at the time, helped me with the placement of the finished blocks and inspired me. She also wrote the two scriptures I wanted on the quilt with permanent pens. The upper right corner "A Friend Loveth at all times" Proverbs 17:17 and the bottom left corner "A Righteous man regards the Life of his animals" Proverbs 12:10.

I believe this quilt was constructed in 2007. A dear friend of mine, Linda, told me I could NOT make Scottie dogs in any fabric but plaids. Once the quilt was completed, she said it was the prettiest quilt she had ever seen and insisted I "gift" it to her. (I told her she evidently had not seen many quilts. LOL) I have not been able to part with this quilt, but if I ever did, Linda would be the perfect recipient. She is an animal lover, Dog Groomer, all knowing critter "Vet" and the scriptures fit her well.

The Scotty Dog Pattern was in the Spring, March 10, 2003 "QUILT" magazine, pg. 68. The added Bowties and button eye were my inspiration and were not a part of the original pattern.
