I have always made baby quilts for the mother-to-be-teachers and he, our principal, always asked me when was he going to get a quilt. My answers was, "you have a baby, I'll make you a quilt". The last few years have been rough for him due to health reasons, so I started saying "when you retire, I'll make you a quilt".

With very helpful suggestions from Mimi, a QCoM member, I decided to use the Signature quilt pattern from http://www.quilterscache.com/S/SignatureBlock.html There are 80 signature blocks, but many have 3-4 dedications on one block so there are over 250 well-wishes on this quilt.

Our Principal was very pleased and jokingly commented to everyone about having to retire in order to get a quilt from me. He is a very funny, poetic, witty, 6'7'' tall man and our entire school loves him. He has been our principal for the last 13 years and will truly be missed.

Suggestion: Iron the signature blocks to the shiny side of freezer paper to give stability during signing. Then remove freezer paper before sewing blocks together.
