Jellicle moon detail "Tree of Jesse"

Looking out over the sea one night I saw a jellicle moon. It struck me that

this is the finishing touch to my quilt. I had a great time digitizing those

clouds. I used one image and twisted, pulled, duplicated in multiple

colors. During the stitching, I often stopped the embroidery and jumped

ahead in the design so the picture wouldn't become too thick.

The street scene was taken from a photograph in the early 1900's. I tried

to capture the age of the cobble street and buildings of this street. Again

I want to keep it as a suggestion to the scene rather than take away from the window.

The palm leaves were ponced from real palms. They are free motion quilted in purple

to add texture but not detract from the window.

This quilt has taken me about 18 months to make after the idea swished around in my head for a few years. The window is digitized, appliqued and embroidered. Around that is my rendition of the street scene of the Via Dolorosa in the form of quilt lines. on either side I quilted palm leaves from palms in my yard as patterns. I absolutely loved making this quilt.

This was a very difficult square to digitize because I was dealing images from multiple sources and getting the scale to match was challenging.

This is the last king in the quilt, it will next go to Mary and then Christ. It is truly a labor of love. Those ancient artist have given me a great deal to work with.
