This is two rows of the groupings joined together. I still have two 15 inch blocks to complete and then the last grouping will be together and the last row can join this massive project.

I discovered tonight that I didn't save any of the fabrics from the top for the binding. I normally cut off a strip of each fabric before I start piecing so that I have a scrappy binding made of the fabrics in the top but that didn't happen.

I thought about a knife edge but I am backing with fleece so that is not a good option. Guess I will be shopping for fabric tomorrow to bind this monster.

center block grouping for current project

I have been working on a CQ for my son's graduation. This project will be a history of his life and the grouping shown here is what we hope will be his future. He hopes to go in the Air Force (God willing) but has had a couple stumbling blocks which have delayed his enlistment. We hope to be past the major block tomorrow and tht he will be able to proceed with his enlistment. After much debate, I have chosen the Air Force to be the focal point in the center of this quilt.

I have planned a quilt of 36 blocks which will be grouped into 9 sets of 4 15" blocks. The corners will be groups of special things in his life: his music, his trip to NOLA, his trip to the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts last summer, and his elementary school days. There will be miscellaneous memories in the remaining blocks which will be joined into the last four groupings.

Please go to the media in the Crazy Quilt group to see the other "groupings" which are completed.
