This idea popped into my wee little head and before I had time to really think about it, I started sewing, fallowing it's lead. There were days when it would progress very nicely and then all of a sudden my inspiration was gone. A week or so later, it'd "talk" to me again and I'd go back to stitching, never really knowing where the project was going. The fan coral presented the biggest challenge. It is 3 layers of net (Green, purple and red) layered with angelina fibers and fused. I put blue 'fingers' of tulle behind it, but the effect is so subtle you can hardly see them. *Shug* Live and learn...

Dressed for Dinner

My kids and I decided that it would be fun to design and make a Thanksgiving wallhanging together this year (on top of the two that the boys did). I downloaded some cute coloring pages and drew a few turkeys for them to choose from. It was a unanimous agreement that we should use this one based on one of my sketches. DD took the doodle and added the table setting to it. I never would have thought of ptting that poor bird on a platter, but I'm sure glad she did! Then came the slow process of choosing fabrics. DD wanted jewel tones, Jr wanted brighty brights and DS1 wanted camo print... In the end, the only pallet that they would all accept (grudgingly) was this one. Everyone helped with the cutting and fusing, but Mom got stuck with the actual sewing/quilting. It's not perfect...but it's a treasure!

Fire breathing Dragon...er, Fish??

DS1 made this last year using the glue resist technique. his goal was to make a dragon, but Mom, like an idjit, suggested it would look better with scales. All of a sudden it looked more aquatic.LOL He did all of his own quilting on it. Not bad for a 6 year old! He about burst his buttons to be the youngest person to have a quilt on display at the last quilt show. LOL

I Used me DD for the model for this. Originally the fairy was nude, but her father had a fit so I had to fashion her a dress. The moon started out the same color as her skin, but the night sky bled something terrible when I painted the moon-glow on it. I liked the effect, so I left it.

Glue-resist art quilt

Ok, Here it is, in all of it's finished glory! This is the quilt I've been working on in the class I'm teaching at the art studio. The Glue-resist technique results in a rather batik-y look. You might need to copy it and zoom to see the details (I'm so much better with thread then a camera!). I painted over it with some irridesent shimmers. The inner (red) border is scalloped and embellished with seed beads (love the texture that added). It's stitched with metalics and has blingy-thingies glued on here and there to help balance the sparkle factor.

Christmas Candle

This is just a funky little wall hanging I made for Christmas last year. The 'flame' is all thread painted with som metalics thrown in for fun and sparkle. The Holly leaves are 3-d.

Bee-utiful Flowers

This is "Bee-utiful Flowers. I'm ashamed this took me so long... It started out to be a wall-hanging, but I decided to make it into a pillow cover instead.

I printed words on cloth to make the center of the flowers. They read "Forgiving" "Couragious" "Generous" "Productive" and "Cheerful." I quilted the words " Peaceful" "Creative" "Content" and "...'Lieve" into the borders and the word "Just..." in the sky.

I had originally planned to make beads to embellish it with, but, Gosh, that was gonna take an awful lot of time, not to mention glass... so then I thought i'd just embroider it. THEN I saw the cute buttons in the store, and. being the lazy cuss that I am, I took the easiest way out! LOL If you were to copy my design, you'd probably come up with a jillion other ways to add bees to your flowers!

While I was sitting in the sunshine, stitching the last of the buttons on, a friendly little huney bee can buzzing by and landed not far from my feet. I wonder what the little guy was doing out this time of the year? It's getting pretty chilly for bugs...
