My children chose the fabrics and designed the quilt for thier new sibling. All I had to do was sew it all together! We had some trouble with the background, since the original plan was to use plain white, but that looked flat. The random pocka-dot print worked much better. I love the stripe-y binding that DD insisted I use! The backin is flannel, so it'll be extra cozy for the baby. I learned long ago to make baby quilts extra big so they can use them as they get older. By the time they start pre-school and want a snuggle blanket, it's all broken in and familure!

This idea popped into my wee little head and before I had time to really think about it, I started sewing, fallowing it's lead. There were days when it would progress very nicely and then all of a sudden my inspiration was gone. A week or so later, it'd "talk" to me again and I'd go back to stitching, never really knowing where the project was going. The fan coral presented the biggest challenge. It is 3 layers of net (Green, purple and red) layered with angelina fibers and fused. I put blue 'fingers' of tulle behind it, but the effect is so subtle you can hardly see them. *Shug* Live and learn...

I really honestly believed that Jr was going to be a girl. I made "her" this quilt before "she" was born. It's quilted with rose buds and the back is roase bud flannel... He doesn't mind.

I Used me DD for the model for this. Originally the fairy was nude, but her father had a fit so I had to fashion her a dress. The moon started out the same color as her skin, but the night sky bled something terrible when I painted the moon-glow on it. I liked the effect, so I left it.

My brother comishioned me to make this for our Uncle who was suffering from Parkenson's desease. He had been a Heuy pilot during hte Vietnam war. His great pleasure in life was fly fishing, so I combined his interests into this lap quilt. I mailed it to my aunt, only to learn that he died 2 days after recieving it. I regret that I didn't sew faster.I don't know if he ever even saw it... but his family displayed it on the pulpit during his funeral and my cousins all swear that when they think of their father, the image I made is what they feel. I guess I didn't fail completely if it brings them comfort.

Edit: I had originally typed "He died 2 days before his death".... now how anyone could manage that is beyond me! That's what I get for trying to write while the kids are jabbering at me. LOL Oh well..it's fixed now. *Blush*

Robbing Peter to Pay Paul

I made this for my Mother since she was forever Robbing Peter to Pay Paul. She never could make the ends meet without the rope fraying in the middle, but she sure tried! This was her Christmas gift the year before she died. So far as I know, the nursing home still uses it on residents.

Fall Wedding quilt

You've seen this one before, but I wanted to add it to my gallery where I can find it easily. I made this 5 years ago for my brother's wedding. His bride loves fall colors... It was a challenge to make since they are out of my comfort zone. It was one of my first attempts at free motion quilting. The fans are all hand pieced and hand appliqued. Their cat loved it!

Rastafarian Fun

This is a sofa throw I made on commision. My friend traded me a firewooding truck in exchange for a quilt...not a bad deal, eh! He had seen a silly screan saver I had up featuring this amphibianand liked it so much that he asked me to design the quilt around it. Talk about a challenge! I made the little peace symbols out of white organza and quilted it with leaves. It's backed with fleece.

This is just a funky little wall hanging I made for Christmas last year. The 'flame' is all thread painted with som metalics thrown in for fun and sparkle. The Holly leaves are 3-d.

Little Monsters

This is the quilt I made for DS1 to go on the kids' brand new bunk beds (See Carosel Horse for the full story). I loved the little monsters on the print, but didn't know exactly what I wanted to do with it when I bought it. I ended up with a 4" strip left over when I was done making the top...talk about cutting it close!
