February Pittsburgh mini quilt

This is another Patrick Lose pattern, from his Blocks for All Seasons line. His was done in reds and pinks, but I couldn't resist doing a Pittsburgh twist on the colors. It is approx. 12x12".

Sheep wallhanging

While on a shop hop this year, I purchased a kit to make this small sheep quilt. It is about 11"x18". The sheep are appliqued and I used all the fabrics in the kit except for the turquoise cornerstones, which came from my stash. The fabric given for those was almost exactly the same as the fabric for the rectangles that they are sewn to, and didn't provide enough contrast. I machine quilted it with X's on the squares and rectangles, a small stipple around the sheep, and a loopy meander on the borders. I also did SID around the borders and the sheep areas.

Cardinal tote bag

Tote bag has 6 paper-pieced cardinals. This took forever to make! I severely underestimated how long it would take to make it and I'm so glad that it's finally done! There is a cardinal Christmas pin on the front, in case anyone is wondering what that is! This will be a Christmas gift for my husband's aunt.

Diamond Head quilt

I made this quilt for a high school friend who has been battling a rare form of cancer for more than 25 years. The photo shows the front of the quilt, the back of the quilt, and the photo of my friend, Sarah, that inspired the fabric choices. The pattern is called Diamond Head by Daniela Stout for Cozy Quilt Designs. I quilted it on my longarm with a spiral pattern. I'm not a fan of patterns where I have to make the same block over and over again, so this was a real labor of love! :-D

Tractor quilt

I made this lap-sized quilt for an older friend who resides in a nursing home. He used to drive tractors, so when I saw this tractor fabric, I had to buy it and make him a quilt. The pattern for the pieced block is from www.quilterscache.com and is called Interlocked Squares. The quilt was quilted on a longarm with a large and small spirals pantograph.

Quilts for Kids Music quilt

This is another charity quilt for www.quiltsforkids.org. This one was made with my own fabrics and I replaced the large focus fabric squares in the pattern with plain blocks embroidered with music designs. I was thinking that this would be a good quilt for an older child with an interest in music.

I quilted this on my longarm with a music notes pantograph and the laser light.

This is a charity quilt, made with a fabric kit sent to me by www.quiltsforkids.org. I'm not crazy about the fabrics, but the pattern was simple and it went together easily. I quilted it on my longarm using a spirals pantograph and the laser light.

Patti's Tahiti Quilt

This is a quilt that I made to commemorate our 25th anniversary cruise to Tahiti. The pattern is "Picture This" by Karen Montgomery. It was made pre-longarm, so it is stitch-in-the-ditch quilting.

Patti's Santa's Reindeer Quilt

I made this quilt using the Santa and Reindeer embroidery designs from Embroidery Library. The reindeer are embroidered on snow fabric (except Rudolph who is embroidered on blizzard fabric!). The quilting is stitch-in-the-ditch and outline embroidery designs on the blank squares.

Patti's Sewing Themed Quilt

This was my first quilt, made in the Starting From Scratch Quilt University class that I took back in Fall of 2004. I completed the top during the class, but did not want to hand quilt it, and didn't like to quilt on my table top machine. In March of 2010, I received a longarm quilting machine from my dear husband and after practicing on some small quilts, I tackled this one. I quilted it using a pantograph, from the back of my longarm. I accidentally quilted the designs upside down and spent a couple of months agonizing over what to do about it. I finally decided to finish the quilting upside down and hope that no one would ever notice! I'm very happy with the results and love that it is finally hanging on my sewing room wall after all these years!
