Jacy:
Marie, What are you working on?

Jacy, I'm working on a Downy Quilts for Kids, above, it needs some quilting and binding and then it's finished.  My next UFO is my Grandson's quilt, below, I made in one of the BOM groups last spring.  I need to piece a backing, sandwich it, quilt it somehow, and bind it.  I'll try to find pics of both and post.

Jacy,

I'm going to steal your idea and post my UFO list on the bulletin board in my sewing room. I've made these lists before (usually in January, strangely enough) but end up putting them in a drawer or somewhere out of sight. And since my UFOs are all in plastic containers in the sewing room closet...well, you know what they say - out of sight, out of mind. So I think I'll put all those tubs on a shelf where they're visible, instead of behind the closet door.

Also, I got out the Black and White quilt and decided that I needed to do some shopping before I could work on it. So...I got out the Taffy Pull instead. It has this really cool piano key style border, which means LOTS of little pieces to cut. I did manage to get my 1 1/2" strips cut, so now I only need to cut those into:

(296 ) 1 1/2" squares

 (296) 1 1/2" x4 1/2" rectangles

 (148) 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" rectangles, and

 (148) 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangles

Piece of cake, right?

Thanks Nana that was MQ2 I think, not BOM.  My stars didn't show up as well as some of the girls' did but I'm pleased with it and hope he'll be.  I need to finish it soon before he gets married!  LOL  He just turned 13 so I'm just kidding.

Marie, I love your quilts. I'm a fan of cheerful, colorful quilts!

Quilting does't have to be fancy. Many of mine were quilted in the ditch around the stars or other shapes. Some people do gorgeous quilting that I love, but all that's needed is basic quilting to hold the layers together. Especially quilts that are made to be used and loved!

Gini, I'm not super good at quilting but I thought I'd probably stipple the blue background and maybe just stitch in the ditch around the butterflies. I appliqued the bodies on yesterday, now I'm doing antennas. I'm thinking of having the butterflies face all directions instead of flying in formation!

Judy - I'm glad I'm not the only one that squirrels away my projects in plastic tubs in the cupboard. I think I'll borrow Jacy's plan and post a very LARGE list somewhere that it won't get lost.

However, to make life even more interesting, I just signed up for a quilt class!!! AACCKK!! -Am I crazy or what?

Good luck with the cutting - put the cutting board in front of the tv set, and zone to the cutting :). This works well when watching good old movies :)

9533cella:
if I finish piecing something and add it to the "needs quilting" pile, that is a "finish" because it is moving from one level of completion to another.

Cella, I really like this idea.  I think our next UFO challenge this summer will have different levels of "finished."  I have several finished tops but even more unfinished tops i need to move to the next level.  And many of them are so close!

I like Cella's idea too. Some of my UFO's need a lot of work. If I just completed the blocks or made it into a quilt top I would feel I had accomplished a lot. Some I may even change the original plan and just make something with the blocks that are done.
