Many thanks to the members of group 3 who really succeeded in making this beautiful quilt. I know my center Star of David was a challenge! I had always wanted to use this block but could not figure out how to incorporate it into a quilt.
Susie added the beautiful candles and the Hebrew word Shalom which means peace. I know cutting and sewing the Hebrew letters was not easy. The candles were to honor my late son, Joshua, and the also represent the Sabbath and it's peace.
Roxana added the second border and used the wheat fabric. It reminded her of the Book of Ruth. Ruth is considered to be the Grandmother of King David and this really added to Roxana's vision of family.
bonita added the Judaic fabric with images of the Hebrew alphabet. The first letters are Alef Bet which from where our word alphabet derives. It shows such continuity of thought and words. She also pieced the Stars of David. I need that pattern!
Kerry's Square in a Square border put a perfect finish to this top. It pulled everything together and just is perfect.
My center is a paper pieced Star of David found in Quilter's Cache. It was rectangular in shape. Since we began this round robin so close to September 11th remembrances, I wanted a block that would give me peace. The borders that were added certainly created my vision. Thank you to Group 3!
