Candace Weiss:

Liz,

When I have quilted my quilt tops, all mistakes on my part are part of history never to be noticed again. Plus, the quilting and shrinkage really does hide most little boo-boos in my humble opinion.

Candace

Ladies,Please do not mail the centers to next person any more then 5 days before the next mail date.please be sure to ask the person you are sending to if they are ready for the top before you send it . No one except those of us in two groups should have two tops at the same time . please ladies stay with the plan.  Ginny I know you can'tstop it now  and its okay ,but this will give me three centers I'm one of the members in two groups .. It is very important to follow thru with  this . there are two member here that are in two groups ,so please be kind to us ..LOL   Barbara

I only notified my next person that I was ready when she was. I didn't send it. The rules actually read, " if you finish your block early feel free to mail it to your next person. You don't have to wait the time limit."  it's even in all caps.  Not my fault if people signed up for more than one block.

Jackie ,yes it does say that ,but it also says down in the udated part to be considerate and ask your next person first if they are ready to recieve it. As co- owner I was trying to make this easier for all  by giving us a time frame to work with . Barbara

Could I ask for a rule change here... by the way the rules are right now I could end up with all of the tops in my Group - because each person (ahead or behind me) could finish up their part - send it on  - and that person finish - send it on and all of a sudden I have 4 tops besides mine...

I would like   a specific time period - and this is probably just something that would make it easier for me... but I really don't want another top besides Debbie's in my house right now till the end of the month.  I do know that Debbie has the first border done on the center that she rec'd but I am no where near done with hers.  I just finished up my center to my satisfaction and gave it on to Barbara - I have been working on Debbie's but am not close to being done yet.

so I guess I am asking for some really specific dates... the only other round robin I did was a local one and we met once a month and passed on our work - it was funny the one whose quilt we were talking about would leave the room and the other 4 of us would discuss what we were doing or did and pass it to the next person - we had some specifics too on what each next round would entail - example - the 2nd round did squares - the 3rd round did triangles - the 4th round did applique and the 5th round could do anything - so you had an idea of what you needed to do.

I had put on my calendar and circled the 15 days limits and the 30 day limits so I had a time frame to work in.

I am really not trying to be contrary but I am one of these people that needs specifics to work in.  I liked the fact that I could look at my calendar and know my time frame.  I realize that some people can just sit down and whip out a border on one of these but for me it takes time.  and I thought that 15 days meant that I had till the 30th of this month to work on Debbie's center...

So could we please make something specific - or ease my thoughts here that I am not going to bog down my group as I am slow and meticulous...and I really truly do not mean to be a pain.

And my last comment before I shut my mouth - there were members who signed up to do 2 centers so that we could have the number of people we do participating - if they had not done this several people that wanted to participate might have not been able to because the numbers were not there - I am glad for the other members that they did...

Thea, the sender should ask the sendee if they are ready. If not then they should say they are not. Simple. Problem solved.

This is what we did last time as well.

And the 15 and 30 day limits are time frames, not dates. So you have 15 days (or 30 whichever border you are on) from the date you recieve the quilt in the mail...thats why its important to post when you send or recieve block. This is because, for example I'm in Canada and sometimes the mail gets "caught up" for a couple days at the border, but once it gets to me I still have my 15 or 30 days to complete my border.

And for the reasons mentioned by Thea, it is courtesy, if you finish a round quickly, to ask the next person if they are ready before mailing off to them.

This was the way it worked last time and I think it worked fine.
