"I have actually learned to go outside my comfort zone with the RR and eventually I will be a better quilter because of it. Part of my issue is I think I am partly OCD . . . . I like everything to be perfect . . . I am slowly learning to work with what I am given whether it's in my liking or not. That's what this group is all about . . . for me anyway . . . . a chance to experience other quilters ideas, visions, or opinions. Doing so will only help to make me a better quilter. So far the two quilts that I've had in this RR are gorgeous in their own right. Colorful, thought provoking and full of character."

I like this and I know that I have done much better in my blocks, trying to achievve 1/4" seams and square them up.  This is really a great learning experience for me.  And I know for myself I have such a different outlook on things (life has taught me this) that I hope my borders will be pleasing to those whose quilts I've worked on.  My motto comes from the song by the Animals "But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good: Oh Lord! Please don't let me be misunderstood ."

I'm spending more time on here today than usual because my quilting is just not working out. Ever have one of those days?  Hahaha. The iron is clean and while I was at it I cleaned them all. Yes, I have a variety of sizes. I have a gadget syndrome. Anyway, I thought I'd check in and see how things were going before I gave it another try. Sometimes you just gotta put it aside and come back later. ;-)

Another beautiful morning in north central Florida. I couldn't sleep last night so I got up and worked on the border so I have a little time to work in my yard today. We bought some chickens yesterday and I need to fix up their laying boxes. We bought more blueberry plants and I got some jasmine to plant soooo I'd better get to it so I can work on the border some also.

Yesterday I bought some Superman material for the youngest grandson's quilt but my husband and I are having different ideas on how to design the thing.  Of course, I have the scissors so I think I'll win. Lol.

Blessings,

Jackie

Cheers for electricity and water!

Checking in again for Group 7...  I had a wonderful day working on Kristin's quilt yesterday, but did not finish. I'll have it done sometime over the next few days and will let you know when it's in the mail.

I am really enjoying the RR.  :)

Hey Jackie - We have chickens too!  I think we are going this weekend to get some more and maybe some ducks!  The eggs taste so great compared to those in the store!  Of course, my hubby says that while it doesn't cost less - at least we know what the chickens are eating, etc.  Which makes it healthier.  I am okay with the chickens and even the ducks.  I am balking at getting a cow or goats.  Don't know who is going to win that one!

Jackie and Jodie, woke up this morning to your posts, put the biggest smile on my face!  Oh how I wish I could have Chickens and Ducks, it sounds wonderful!  Also planting blue berries and Jasmine! How lucky you both are!  Jackie I think definitely you will win with the superman design!  Quilting weapons make wonderful persuaders. Boy oh boy fresh eggs sound wonderful!! You girls made me miss my childhood this morning. Visiting grand parents who lived on a farm. But I always got chased by the chickens or pecked at when I was told to get the eggs!  Or my uncle was squirting me when he milked the cow!  Hum, I was terrorized with farm animals, lol.  But I still miss it. Thanks for the wonderful imagery this morning, put a happy thought in my head to begin my day. Jackie I hope you show us what you come up with for superman...  Oh and I will take 2 dozen of those eggs please!  Lol...

I love jasmine.  Unfortunately our winter temps are too cold for me to grow it outside.  You could send me a whiff of that wonderful smell when yours start blooming...LOL>

I can hardly wait for the temps to warm up so I can plant my garden. Then in early August ill be sick of canning and ready for fall and cooler temps. We wanted some chickens but barely live in the city limits. There are so many LDS members here the city finally said chickens could be raised in town. The catch is a $25 city tax per chicken per year!  A chicken tax....who da thunk!!! ROTFL. I'll just buy organic until we move to the country.

Don't you just love it when things just fall in place and what you saw in your minds eye works? I have Beverly's boarder added and it is on the wall so I can get my picture tonight. Then I just have to write in her book and sign the label and off it goes to Bonita when she is ready. After I saw the center she posted I knew what I wanted to do just hoped it would work when it was my turn and it did. It reminded me of the fields of sunflowers we saw in Kansas one year coming home from Utah. Hope what I have added to your quilts will please you and thanks so much for the opportunity to share my joy of quilting.

A chicken tax? Oh my! Right now the girls are acclimating to the backyard and doing their little chicken thing. A friend of mine has a rooster she's going to give me so when we start hatching babies it should be interesting.  We had goats when we lived in Arkansas but probably won't get any here. I buy goat milk from a lady near here. Talk about expensive! We also had a cow in Arkansas but definitely won't get one here. Yards only so big. Ha!

The debate with Superman is I'm using the comic version on the back and all the bams, zaps, and whams are in a variety of colors which I want to use on the front. Hubby thinks I should just use superman colors of red, yellow, black, and blue. We shall see. I found a pattern called "Spinning Star." has a block center that I plan on putting some of the comic fabric. I'll keep you posted.

I'd love to send everyone, eggs, jasmine, and blueberries.

Maggie aka Grandma Sunshine:

. The catch is a $25 city tax per chicken per year!

$25 per chicken per year seems pretty steep in my opinion!!  DH and I (well, I'll be honest - it's mostly just me) are thinking of getting chickens this spring or summer.  I keep trying to get him interested in it, but he doesn't seem to care.  We've been discussing for a while though, so this might be the year.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!  :)

Yowser!  $25/chicken!  We have 6 right now and will probably get 6 more.  Carolyn - you should go ahead with the chickens.  After the initial set up (building the coup), my DH put in an automatic waterer and he created his own automatic feeder so it is almost maintenance free.  He fills up the chicken feed every 3 - 4 weeks and cleans out the coup at about the same interval.  The biggest maintenance is collecting the eggs every day!  We have thoroughly enjoyed having them.  My husband calls them his little hareem! (we don't have a rooster) :)

Jodie, it sounds like you have a great set up.  Thanks for sharing this with me.  I'll be sure to share with him and hopefully we'll be ready to go this spring.  :)
