Whoohoo, as my dtr who lives in Colorado wd say.....snow piled higher than I am tall ....and we have a FANTASTIC plower who came up once last nite and again this a.m. so I cd get to work at 10 (10-6:30 every other weekend). He tarred our driveway when we built the house.....we are set back about 5-700 feet so it is a long driveway.   The road to work (91) had about 2 other cars on it b/c of the ban on driving from the governor.  I work at one of the hospitals in the area, so was "legal" on the road.  Very beautiful drive.  Quiet day....and no centers to work on yet, so am working on a baby quilt for one of my co workers......then I am behind on my blocks for the months I started for about 5 people this fall...owe at least one Jan and all the Febs......thanks for asking, Liz....we never lost power!

I finished designing the border for Ginny's quilt today.  Unfortunately I may not have the fabric until next week sometime, but it is ordered.

I have another FYI please,   Please please, stay within the wishes of the block maker, rather you like the design or corps or theme, please respect their wishes, remember this is their quilt, not yours. Just things to keep in mind.  Thank you

Ok, I've got to vent here. First this is my first RR and will be the last if the participants are so touchy.  You have women who are at different skill levels which is one problem. We get a post that SOMEONE'S not squaring their borders or using quality fabric. Now someone's not happy about someone else's border. Good grief! I sent my center out with no expectations and I am waiting to be surprised at what returns. Grow up people!

This has nothing to do with "growing up" yes their are different skill levels, but squaring up your pieces and using good fabric and knowing how to sew a seam, are basic knowledge in quilting. . I am happy you have no expectations for your piece, but people were asked to write their visions for their quilts. What colors they wanted to see, any specifics at all to give your group guidance.  All I am asking is for everyone to follow the block makers wishes. These reminders aren't geared to one person, they are just reminders for everyone. Unfortunately not everyone reads directions, although they are on the front page of the Robin for reference, or Barbara and I are here always if there are questions, or if someone needs help.  My posts are not to criticize anyone, they are to help. If you are offended by my direction, I am sorry. I will continue to post Reminders if the need arises. This also was posted to the directions.  These instructions again, were meant to guide not geared at any one person.  It has nothing to do with 1 member or another being touchy or unhappy,  the posts are meant to instruct and remind of the guidelines.  Thank you for your opinion, isn't freedom of speech great.?

Jackie, I'm really sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with the round robin and wish you would reconsider it as your last. This is my first also and I have gone to great lengths to follow all the guidelines posted after first being guilty of not reading the instructions thoroughly. I can sympathize with beginners in the round robin but I also spent a great deal of time and money not only on my center but all the ones that have come to me. I have also gone to great lengths to follow the vision of the person who is the owner, whether I liked their choices or not. This is where the challenge comes in and what a round robin is all about. It is to expand your skills not learn sewing skills.  It is my understanding that this group contains an unusually large number of first timers. I'm sure part of this is due to the the gallery of the first two round robins.

If you are that unhappy with the directions of the round robin or any gentle reminders that come from the leader there are back ups in place to step in for your group, not that any of us wish you to leave. I understand the need to vent but you seem to be angry about the round robin. This is not meant to be stressful but fun for experienced skilled beginners to the very seasoned quilter. Please reconsider your experience with a round robin and try to enjoy the challenge of following the guidelines, including gentle reminders from time to time that may or may not be directed your way. I hope your group presents you with a quilt top that exceeds your expectations. Even though you said you didn't have any expectations I'm sure you looked at some of the quilts that were produced in the first round robin before you signed up. That alone is an expectation whether you are conscience of the choice or not.

First timer,

aka Grandma Sunshine

I don't know, the "issues" and "reminders" just came off as critical. I read the directions i have taken great pains to follow the persons design and kept with the style of the overall quilt. Anyway, I vented. The end. I'm sure everyone is doing their best and I appreciate the time people put in the quilts so I will be happy with my center when it comes back to me. I can't wait to see the additions. Isn't that the excitement and what this is about?

Maggie, Very well said. I too spend time considering what the quilter wishes. I also spend time and money on the fabrics. For example: I have every green you can think of in my stash; but if none look right, I'm off to several fabric stores for the right one. And I expect the same from everyone else who works on my quilt. I don't want anyone to be disappointed when they get their's back. And I'm sure things will all work out at the finish.

I too am here on my I pad, and I Skype and FaceTime. I keep my IPad close and see massages usually as soon as you write them. So Barbara and I are here for anyone with questions.  As far as my Reminders being critical, well all I can say to that is, You are entitled to your own perceptions, I put out information as I see necessary. Take what you can use and let the rest go. This is the last post on this subject I will write. Move on please. Thank you

Yes, he drives me crazy. At this age it's like having a son to take care of all over again. (Did I say that!!!) But I wouldn't trade him in for the world. He doesn't question me about how much I spend on  my quilting (never told how much I spent on my Bernina).  LOL The older you get and the longer you're married, you realize that things that have bothered you in the past don't seem that important any more. Such is life!
