I stoped buying irons and get mine at the thrift stores ,I have found two really great older Rowenta that work great and only paid less the 5dollars for them . Yes they are heavy but that's what I like about the older ones. the new irons were only lasting about a year.
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!

Great idea Barbara. I look for clothes but never really thought to look for an iron. I'm going to stop by goodwill today on my lunch. LOL

Debbie, I agree. The Audubon quilt may be nice but it's not my thing either. I don't like something just because someone else does.
Just being honest.

Kristin (KAlbrecht): Carolyn -- How do you go about importing a quilt into EQ7? I have the software and have figured out how to import my fabrics but I can't seem to get a quilt imported. Is there a trick to this?

Kristin, I just imported a picture of it. Then I made a quilt in EQ that is one block . I put the dimensions in so the dimensions are correct. EQ just thinks that it's one block. Here's what I did, but I'm new at this too, so let me know it doesn't make sense. :)
Start on the layout tab. Tell it you want only 1 block and enter the size of the block.
Then go to "Libraries -> Photo Library" (near the top)
Click "import image" and then "add to sketchbook". it will disappear. that's ok.
Go back to your quilt. Click on the set photo button (on the Right hand side of the screen. It's the one that looks like a photo of a mountain).
Click your photo and then click the one block where you want it to go.
Then you can start adding borders.
I hope this helps. This took me forever to figure out though, so if something's not clear, don't hesitate to ask. I was pulling my hair out for a while. lol.
We could also talk through it on the phone one evening if you want (not tonight though, I won't be home). It took me forever to figure out and then when I tried to do it again, I'd completely forgotten how. lol
I should finish up with Thea's center and will mail it out on the weekend if you are ready for it Kristie. Just let me know. When you are ready for the next one.

Not ready yet. Next week should be okay- I will let you know. :)
Jackie and Debbie--
There is nothing wrong with not liking the Audubon quilt--I just happen to love it because I LOVE birds! We feed them year round (ouch--expensive!) but we just love the different songs and colors. I'm with Maggie--not going to make it exactly the same. I'm also going to make it my "own". Don't think I'm as brave as she is, making it into a King sized quilt--but I definitely don't want it as a large wall hanging either.
The Audubon quilt is lovely. I just prefer to piece rather than appliqué. Y'all who like to appliqué my admiration goes out to you. I'm a piecer myself or appliqué using a blanket stitch. The thought of all that needle turning makes me cringe.

Jackie, it used to make me cringe too. But as I got older and my kids flew the coop, it seems to appeal to me now. Now into hand appliqué after buying a $12,000 Bernina and about the same in Berni a products, software, and accessories. Go figure, I'll get back to the machine but I needed a breather. ;-)
oooohhhh Maggie. You must have the much dreamed about 830. I drool over it everytime I go into the shop....LOL
Vinton, Virginia
Nana, yes I have the 830 (both new and old). I'm not about to let my old 830 workhorse out of sight. You'd think for that kind of money the new 830 would sew anything but it doesn't like leather or duct canvas. Of course the old 830 sews everything, including silk. Lol. But I wouldn't trade any of my Bernina's. I'm a Bernina girl since that day in 1978 when my mom traded me a washing machine for the old 830. Needless to say that washing machine has been long gone! I have the Bernina quilt frame, My Label software, Cut Work software, and every specialty foot they make (practically). I should have bought the digitizing program but my LQS wanted me to get Masterworks II so I did. LOL. My DH made a statement ONCE that his bass fishing was way more expensive than sewing could ever be. Since that day I've made it my mission to make sure I stay ahead!!! ROTFL. Of course my DH thinks I should mend, make bass boat covers and fishing rod covers, motorcycle covers and anything else he deems necessary to enjoy his hobbies. NOT!!!
What in the world was he thinking!!!!!
Yeah My family thinks I should do mending and alterations. I keep telling them that they wouldn't ask Picasso to paint the garage but they won't listen....LOL

Amen to that, People I work with are always asking me to make clothes and stuff, I always tell them I don't sew, I Quilt. I am not even interested in sewing! They just keep asking!
Don't family just tickle the (bad word ) out of you somethimes I 'm really glad I don't have that problem ,After all I left the clan ..LOL but it is to bad people don't understand the difference..
