Ginny and Carolyn,

Wow! I am soooo jealous!

We have actually been rather lucky up here this year...it has been (until the last 3 weeks) a comparatively mild and low-snow winter.

However, the weather has been making up for it the last few weeks with  few major storms and a cold snap that had wind-chills of -25 to -30. (thats -13 to -22 for Farenheit people :))

I can't wait to see flowers again, but that will be months here....

Pamela- I have friends that live in Many LA. If you don't know where that is, it is about 60 miles or so south of Shreveport, a few miles from the Texas border.  I visited them a few years ago in AUGUST...that was mistake!   I was so hot, I couldn't get out of the truck with AC on.  I couldn't breathe, my asthma was REAL fun down there.  Oh and when I did get out of the truck, I was attacked by fire ants while getting my pic next to the Welcome to Texas sign! That was my first and LAST trip to Texas..LOL  When they drove me around to see plantations I took pics from the truck. The food was AMAZING! There was an old Indian woman that made tamales and Boudin to die for!  I brought a bunch of tamles home with me- she froze them and put them in a cooler with dry ice. I love her..lol   I will go back and visit someday but it will be in a cool month, so I can enjoy the visit and be able to breathe.   I really want to go to NOLA one day too.

Erin,

I live in the deep south of Louisiana. Have been here all my live and hate it here.  Always hot and humid with plenty of bugs.  Would love to move to the mountains but cannot seem to talk DH into it YET!  The only thing I LOVE here is the food.

Pamela

Checking in....

I have Barbara's top, which I'm considering.  I love what Dana did.  I just have to figure out what I'm going to add.  :)

Audobon quilt - I guess I'm real wierd because I just don't get excited about this quilt.  It's pretty but NEVER would I think about trying to do it.  I'm sorry, just not my thing, I guess.

I have to be honest here.

Wow, everyone has been so busy in the week that I have been offline.  It took me a little while to read all the posts I missed.  The cruise was awesome but you had to pay to use the internet so I have been offline for a week!!!  I had an awesome week on the cruise.  I went on a Moda Cruise organized by Stitchin Heaven in Texas.  If you are going to do a Quilt Cruise, you might want to check them out.  They do a great job.  I was able to finish two of the three quilts we started on the cruise.  I will try to post a couple of pictures later.

I went on the cruise with my Mom and sister.  We went on a glass bottom boat tour in Roatan and then went ziplining in Belize!!!  The ziplining was the best and the views were amazing!!!  I did however miss my family.  Now that I am back, it's back to work!!!  I had my new center waiting for me when I got home so I need to get busy!!!

I went to sew this morning and my iron wouldn't turn on.  It has quite a personality and only likes one outlet in the whole house!!!  So needless to say it was on its last legs.  Beloved is rescuing me by bringing home a new one tonight after work.  Time to do more sewing tomorrow with my new iron.  Hopefully he picks out a good one!

KimSue- I just went to iron one of my husbands shirts and my iron wouldn't turn on! I tried a different plugin and all, nothing. So, tomorrow I will have to get a new iron.   I just had a little cheap one so it's not a big deal, it is just that it is snowing like crazy and I need to go get an iron so i can SEW!!!!  He will just have to wear a different shirt than he wants tomorrow..LOL

Must be going around my iron went out last week. I got a cheap one from Walmart, but going to take it back. The plate has all these deep indents around the steam holds and the corners get caught up in them and they wrinkle up real bad. So back it goes.

Carolyn -- How do you go about importing a quilt into EQ7?  I have the software and have figured out how to import my fabrics but I can't seem to get a quilt imported.

Is there a trick to this?

Kristin, I just finished my planning for your quilt in EQ7 and I'm pretty excited about it.  :)  I have to say your  block has proved to be a very interesting one to work with...  There are so many elements for us to play with.  I think it's going to be really cool when it's done.  :)

Fabric shopping maybe tomorrow - superbowl tonight!

Debbie, that's okay. To each her own.  I love hand appliqué so this appealed to me right away. Of course I'm adding a few things and making into a king size quilt for my bed.

For all those looking for a new iron (I did so last week) . . . I have come to like the Shark brand iron.  My iron before this new one was also a Shark brand but for some reason they seem to have a problem after being dropped on a hard wood floor multiple times ........ ;)

Anyway, the Shark sells for only about $30 at Target.  I like it because it's light weight and truly feels like a commercial grade iron.

Just my two cents worth.

well, it was over 70 here in Oklahoma City today and the heat was on in the library(where I work)...was hot in there today, almost wanted to go home but at least I was not having hot flashes, for some reason they have passed (after almost 20 years, about time!) I have actually been cold a few days and put on long sleeves. Unusual for me!

Love seeing the flowers coming up ya'll are posting and reading everyone's posts. I have to tell you gals, this is much better than FB, except none of my family or friends I know locally are on QCA. I like the positive atomsphere of everyone and how ya'll talk about all kinds of stuff, besides quilting.

You guys make my day and even if I don't post alot, I do try and read every post. Bad thing is I read on my tablet and haven't been able to post on it. May have to buy me a iPad mini, yet!
