Just checking in.

Im all done with Susan's block from group4. I just need to sign her label and make some notes in her "book".

Erin's border is coming along nicely. I had to make a new one since the first one didn't work out but should be done by the 30th.

I will be off for a long weekend to sunny Arizona! Can't wait it's been soooooo cold here in Pgh.

How are you supposed to know these things. Expert quilters usually don't need to cloud their creativity with such nonsense. HAHAHA!

Candis, that last comment was for you. ;-)

I guess when I was deleting things I deleted my signature too!  How's a gal supposed to know all this stuff?

Oh my Gosh! The mail service is so screwy, I thought keeping you all in close proximity would cut this shipping cost and time down.  I guess next Robin I should inquire where the Sorting areas are!!! Unbelievable.  Sorry Guys!

Haha - Candis, it's NOT your fault when the PO is slow.  These things happen.  You're doing a wonderful job as organizer, imo.

For anyone willing to pay a smidge extra, the priority mail is guaranteed to arrive within a few days.  Priority mail flat rate forever postage also has tracking included.

I did send it priority mail and Zsofia sent hers to me the same way. A few days my a....  Shame on me.

Ginny--

That's too bad about your quilt, although it looks fluffy and warm anyway.  Did you wash it in COLD water and not put it in the dryer?  Wool can't take warm or hot water, nor the dryer.  I do that (wash wool in hot water and put in dryer) to felt it.  Have you ever ruined a wool or wool blend sweater that way?

Candis:

Sorry, so I will ask you too, anything going on in your neck of the woods, anything fun or interesting, any new projects?  Talk to me girls,  I am trying to live vicariously through you all!!

:)  My life is fairly standard at the moment-  playing and chasing after my 2 1/2 year old son, taking him to music classes and playgroups and taking care of the house.  It is quite cold (been below zero the past few days) and he doesn't understand why we don't go outside to play with the sun shining. I sneak in sewing/quilting at nap time.

Quilting projects-  working on the round robin of course, finishing up my snowman blocks for the swap and putting on the frame a baby quilt my moms club sewing group created for one of our members (I don't have a longarm like you, but I do have a frame that my little Bernina sits on so I can use it like a tiny longarm. :) )

Kristie,

everyone deserves calm in their life. The joys of young motherhood!  Pretty soon you won't be able to get him outside. Hahaha. Gotta love those Berninas. I have the new and old 830, Bernina quilt frame, cut work software, My Label and probably tons of other Bernina things. Can you tell I'm a Bernina gal?

Zsofia--Have a blast in AZ.  Hope it is warmer there now--it has been quite cold, but probably not as bad as in the Northeast.  I will send Christine's center to you on Monday as you requested.

As for checking in--

Here in Redfield, NY we have been between  14 below to 25 below overnight, and maybe got up to single digits (below zero) during the day, but at least today we saw some SUN!  A couple of days ago we got around 4 feet of snow.  It's squeaky when you walk in the snow.  Had to go out twice this week to take my Mom to Dr. appts.--just check ups, she's doing great for 85.  We are both taking a bus trip to the Lancaster Quilt Show for March 15 and 16.

I have been working on the RR, obviously--and have my baby quilt #1 all put together and ready to quilt.  I'm cheating on this one.  Bought fabric that already had blocks on it, so just going to stitch "in the ditch" on that one.  Also cut out the fabrics to turn a onesie into a dress, am quilting coordinating fabric to make baby shoes to match, made up a pattern for another quilt I want to make, then of course--I need to make two baby quilts for my son's twins due in May.  Found out today that it's one boy and one girl (finally!)  That makes Jack 4, Elliott 2, and twins.  I'm thinking I might just make them out of minky and embellish baby girl's with some little silk flowers or something.  Have handmade two beautiful quilts for the first two boys which weren't appreciated at all by D-I-L.  She's the type that if it doesn't say "Baby Gap" on it, it sucks.  I'm sorry for her--to me, something homemade is just so precious--to think that someone took the time to make something for me.  Are you with me, girls?

Ohhhhhh girlfriend, do I ever get it.   My own dd asked me to stop making quilts for her....the fact that I have probably made about 10 for her aside, I was devastated!.  Oh we'll. others certainly appreciate them.  It's obviously a passion for me.

Maggie I agree, I have a few that ask for quilts but then they really don't appreciate them or care about the love and work that went into them.  I would rather give them to complete strangers.. They at least show appreciation.   I have a daughter in law that is like yours if it doesn't come from nordstroms or gap, or her family then she doesn't want it, and if I make one for the kids she either tacs it to wall or puts it up where they can't use it. I have lost interest in making them for family.  So disappointing .

I am with both of you.  It is a well love hobby for me.  I made a quilt for my Mom many years ago (this would have been the 2nd one I made her) and she asked me not to make her anymore.  I didn't do a bad job - it looked great and hundreds of hours went into it as it was a queen size intricate quilt that I quilted myself.  Still hurts my feelings to this day.  Needless to say, I have not made her another.

I understand that. I made a paper pieced wall hanging for my dad two years ago. I hate paper piecing (doesn't make sense to me). Anyway, his wife grabbed it and fell in love with the backing fabric. To this day it is on their entrance table, paper pieced side down. Never again will I make them anything!!!!!  They are the kind of people that if they want something they buy the best. I don't do birthdays or Christmas for them anymore. What do you get someone who has everything?  Of course, a heart felt handmade item that can be placed face down because they like the backing fabric. LOL. It takes all kinds!!!!!!  Talk about hurt. My kids went to visit and couldn't believe it until they saw it. At least my kids beg for something I've made which pleases me to no end.
