Hey, you guys call me, I'm in OKC!  maybe we can meet up - getting my hair done in the morning(Sat) there's some quilt shops close to me.

So Debbie, did you get some great fabric? Tell us about it, or better yet post a pic .  Who is Kelli. If I may ask? You and Barbara mentioned her?  Hope it was a great weekend? Can't wait to hear about it, and any one else's.  I finished a OKC Thunder quilt for my 9 year old nephew.  He loves Kevin Durant. And lives in Moore Ok.  It's pretty cute I guess if your into that stuff.   Walked the dogs a lot cause it was in the 60s here.  Heat wave. But nights are in the 30s.  Watched the playoffs.  Boo SF 49ers.  Yeah Ravens!!         I am working on appliquéing a geisha panel for my daughter in law. She wants purples, I will expand it and turn it into a quilt for her.  I normally use Cotton batting, anyone know the warmest batting I should use,?They live in Alaska, I want it to be warm!

TEAM 7 (Kristin, Susie, Carolyn, Ginny L, Barbara) - General Communication / Progress Report

Just wanted to check in and let you know what I'm up to.  I worked on Susie's quilt over the weekend and am ***almost*** finished.  I love how the last steps go.  You work and work and work and then, at the end, it all comes together.  I am happy with my design and work on this one and have had a lot of fun on Susie's USA quilt.  :)

I plan to finish up tonight and mail tomorrow.  Ginny L has already told me that she's ready for it.

Susie, I am ready for Kristin's center whenever you're ready to send it.  :)

Did you pics of your finished quilt?  I'll look around for it.  I also had a great weekend.  Worked on Susie's quilt.  Worked on my seedstarting for what will be my first real garden.  Went to my company's winter ball.

Good luck with your applique!  I wish I knew what to tell you in terms of material.  I know there are different weights of batting at my LQS, so obviously, the heavier ones, but in terms of which material, I don't know....   :)

I have the fabric I am using, just didnt know if I wanted to use wool batting or a polyester cotton blend batting. Have never used wool, wondered if anyone else did.  Sounds like you had a fun weekend Carolyn.  Glad to see your enjoying the Robin. I loved Susie's patriotic Center, it will be fantastic I am sure. Thank you for checking in. Love hearing from you and everyone!   I did post my Thunder quilt in show and tell and my gallery. It was a fun one, but now Of coarse all my family is wanting one, since they are all from Oklahoma mostly. Lol. Oh brother!!!

I forget the brand but there is a batting that has the same warmth propensities as down.  I think I have seen it on Connecting Threads website but I am not sure.   Another good batting is wool.  Nice and warm but light and drapes beautifully.

Thank you Nana, I will look on Connecting Threads , or google it.  Or use the wool, sounds great. I knew someone would steer me in the right direction..   Thanks again

Hello Team 5,

I just wanted to check in with you all. I have been sick with a cold and since I have COPD, it has of course gone straight to my lungs. I am doing my nebulizer treatments and being good and staying home. Breathing is an ordeal right now so I have not been able to look for the perfect fabric for Pat's center.  Hopefully I can get out in the next few days to get some fabric. I already have plan for the next border for Pat.

Candis,

Here is what happened to me with a wool batting:

I thought I'd use wool for my new grandbaby's quilt, I ordered from a cool sheep farm in NY I found online. Well, apparently when the wool is "homemade" it is not washable. I didn't know that. Here's a before and after picture.

@Candis - So Debbie, did you get some great fabric? Tell us about it, or better yet post a pic . Who is Kelli.

No, unforunately they came down on Fri and I was at work, I didn't email till Fri nite.  So, I didn't go to any shops but I did have a coworker at another library bring me a box of material and odds-n-ends she was no longer using.  I called for a quilting book and she said she had told herself next person to call for quilting she was giving the box too.  Some neat stuff - 8 cotton hankerchiefs she had hemmed that I think I'll try embroidering on when I finally get a new machine.

Kelli is another quilt here on QCA and she lives not far.  Never met her yet but am friends.  I did work on some quilts yesterday, got another row done on my Fall Quilt I want to enter in the State Fair in Sept, it's a OBW hexagon.  will post a picture when it's done.  I also made two pillows - one I had been given two alike squares with hearts and so it became a pillow for my oldest daughter's birthday next month, 16th.  Can't believe she'll be 40!  The 6 yr old GS wanted a pillow out of some OU material I had on hand so one side had one print (squares of OU logo and University name and other had Oklahoma on it)  He went home so happy, caring his pillow.  He's such a cutie!  Then I started on Christmas stocking, making for the whole family, 14 of them.  Got 8 new pieces of fabric and then found some jelly roll strips I had ordered off eBay a few years ago.  Both GSs, 10 & 6, helped pick out their own pieces.

Ginny

I use a wool batting made by Quilter's Dream.  It has been preshrunk and works beautifully.

Melissa, you take care of yourself! If you don't feel like getting out, I have a lot of oriental fabric, some of the same that Pats panel is. I am willing to send it to you if you need it. I can send you pics and you can tell me if that works. At least it would only take a day to get to you or 2 max. The flu season is so bad right now in Cali. And you need to be extra cautious.   Just let me know and I will PM you pics of all fabric that you are thinking of, color or whatever.  Please, I mean it, Take care...

Ginny can you use this for a rug or a pillow or a wall hanging?  I always panic when I send something through the wash....never know what will come out :/

Nana or somebody in the know ...

How do I go about posting an image to QCA and rotate it so it's right side up?

Everything I'm doing it's ending up upside down.  ARGHHHHH

Thanks in advance.
