The block is large. 25.25 wide by 28.25 tall. I left extra room on the block being sent so you had plenty of seam allowance to work with.  The edges are surged to prevent raveling of the additional seam allowance I've left for your discretion.  I was concerned about you having enough room for ideas. The smallest vines average between 1/8 and 1/4 inch wide. My finger tips have little puncture holes. lol one hummingbird has 27 pieces and measures 2 inches tall by 2 1/8 inches wide. No wonder my fabrics are fraying. The other hummingbird (only 23 pieces) is only basted on at this point.  Thanks for the encouragement. After you receive it you might be able to give me some suggestions for fraying fabrics. I'm thinking about redoing one of my additional birds and using an iron on stabilizer on each piece to stop the fraying.  Let me know what you think.

I love where you are going with this whole center!  I have hand appliqued before and it IS very time consuming, but well worth the effort.  As a matter of fact, the last border I am doing I expect to hand applique (I might be biting off more than I can chew, so to speak), but I think it will add a lot of charm to the quilt.  That's why I am thinking so far ahead, but of course, I'll have to wait to see the quilt before I can get started in case any one else has a similar idea.  I love cats, birds and nature, anyway.  Looking forward to seeing what your group does with it!

Well, I finally got my center block finished. It is off to Sue. Hope you get it quickley.

I really don't have a vision for this. I just love the flowing vines. I mostly like all colors except blue. I'm not a blue person. I can't wait to see what it comes back as.

Thank you all for having patience with me. I'm sorry it took me so long.

It really isn't that bright pink. It's kind of a subdued pink with gray corners. I doesn't look quite right. The colors are way off.

Melissa, you did a great job!  I love it.  Can't wait to see what others do!  Bravo!   Actually I have been very impressed by everyone's Center, very different, and creative. The anticipation will be a killer.

Melissa that is beautiful - what size is it - trying to get an idea!  And yes I can see a vision for borders - coming from Oklahoma the windy plain state I would have lots of ideas for it.  Very nice job!

I was wondering what size thread you are using, and I wonder if it would make a difference. I found when I did some thread research online, that when I switched to a different size-it made a huge difference with mine blocks fitting and my points fitting together.

I love your center! And I love all the colors too-right up my alley!!

I make a lot of quilt tops at Quit in a Day-Eleanor has some great tips on how to handle the bulk in the centers. Look up how she gets it to lay down by making a little pinwheel happen in the back of the quilt-after ironing, a lot of times my unreasonable points that have to match up-end up matching up perfectly.
