What beautiful blocks and craftsmanship! I'm starting to feel the pressure to get my block completed. LOL
I thought that was the name but when I searched it there were many different blocks that came up. No matter the name, it is awesome!

Erin: I am really amazed with this center. What is this block called? Zsofia: Here is my block. I just have to appliqué the center and sew the red border on. Zsofia

Erin - it is a 64 point compass block. When I saw it I knew I had to make it. It was in Quilters Newsletter Magazine from 2007.

I will miss seeing your beautiful work on this Round Robin as we are on different teams! I had to take a second look though at your block. I also picked paper piecing as my center (for the first time) and my colors are also in the teal and green range. In fact they are quite similar so I guess it is better that we are on different teams. I'll still miss you though - you do wonderful, beautiful work.

If I could figure out a way to post a picture I would. My center is red, white and blue stars. It's for my son Noah. I would like to stick to the color scheme but if someone could find red, white and blue Noah's ark fabrics I won't mind that! I can't wait to get started.
Kim, inthe box where you respond you will see a little flim strip ,hit this and it will show you how to down load a picture . Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
This is a work in progress, but I've been so slow about it over the holidays and wanted to go ahead and let you guys know the general idea in case you're wondering...
This block was from a book. I enlarged it to triple it's original size, which makes it the appropriate size for our center block. I was going for a rain-forest-y look. Hibiscus in Hawaiian rain-forest. The bright greens are ruining it in my mind, because they draw the eye to the wrong lines. So I am in the process of switching out the bright greens for more darker, neutral greens that will blend in more. I realize that the flower blends in with the background a little and that's ok with me. I like the colors and I like the sort of "feel" it has - reminds me of a lush, vibrant rain-forest, where there is so much life all around.
The fabrics are batiks. Colors are pinks, dark greens, and a bit of cream. THE BRIGHT GREENS WILL BE GONE BEFORE I SEND OUT!! I think they're all wrong.
So.. .work in progress, but here's what I have so far. :)
Carolyn- I like the bright greens!! They really make the flower pop.
I figured it out, wahoo! Here is my center, lousy photography aside
Carolyn, I like it very much, I also like the bright green, but it's your Center! KimSue, Wow, that is very cool. I'm seeing so many creative Blocks, be sure you write your vision for these beauties, especially in your journal. That's where you will put specifics as to what you want.
KimSue,
Love the red, white, and blue. I'm on the same team as you, so will have to start looking for the right fabric.
Oh my, Carolyn, that is a great block, but I'm next and Yikes! is what I thought. What to do, what to do,.....I hope you have some thoughts when you send it.

Aww.. Please don't be worried - I am not picky and I loved all the photos I saw from the last RR, so I'm sure I'll love whatever you decide to do with it.
The bright greens will be gone, since I think they draw the eye to their edges, which create funny shapes that aren't meant to be there. Once those are switched out, the colors will be pink, cream, and darker, more natural greens.
My main request (possibly my only request) is for folks to choose colors that coordinate well with the ones I've used - so more pinks, greens, creams, possibly browns. I've used all batiks, but I'm open to other fabrics if they go well with the rainforest theme. I think some solids would probably be nice too.
As far as shapes and patterns for the borders go, seriously - whatever you want to do is fine with me. I know that my center doesn't have even lines/angles/shapes like most quilts do, but that doesn't mean the borders can't have more even lines and shapes. My main thing is for the colors and fabrics to work with the center. So.. piano keys, triangles, WHATEVER in coordinating fabrics and I'll be a happy lady!
Hope this helps!
Edit: I also wanted to say that I realize that my fabrics all sort of blend in together, but that doesn't mean that the borders can't pop with each other or within a border. So, while I have pinks/creams/greens all blending in together, the borders could have a dark green next to a light cream that pops as long as the colors all work well with the ones I've chosen.

Yeah, I hear you. Honestly, it would probably be best if I removed all the darker, natural greens and left the brights... BUT that's too much work for me!! LOL. It would be almost as easy for me to start from scratch. So, instead I'm removing the bright greens and keeping the darker, natural greens and calling it a rain-forest theme. I realize that the flower almost blends in with the background this way, but that will just have to be OK. :)
