OK, here's a pass at my center block.  I wondered if I should do a darker border.

Very Nice Avis!  What does it measure, if it is big enough and your happy with it I don't think you need a darker border, unless that is your creation you want.

It measures about 24 1/5".  I was going to remove the white border and replace it with a dark border to make the center POP, lol.

Avis, it's very pretty but you're right, I think the light fabric takes away from all those beautiful colors, but then I might be wrong.  The girls will jump in here and give you their thoughts soon.

Avis - I really like the light border. In my opinion you should not change it. This way your group can use the darker colors in the borders to highlight the center piece. WTG.

I would put dark on it just to see on your board, don't remove white, just audition a dark color.  Take a picture of it then you have your decision.  Taking a picture of it always helps me see it better, weird but it works

Avis,

it depends on the look you want to start out with. Audition a dark wider border around what you have now and see what you think. Leaving it light might give the next person to add a darker fabric and it will still pop, just differently. Put in your vision that you want the center the focal point of the quilt if that is what you envision.

Debbie,

looks great!  Batiks are always fun to work with. My son was married in July and their colors were lime green, plum and pink. It was beautiful. I was skeptical but it turned out be perfect for them. My son even wore lime green patten "chucks."  LOL

I love all of the centers so far. So many possibilities.

Avis: Your pattern would make a lovely memory quilt using men's ties. I have some from my father-in-law that I might have to "steal" your idea for.

My center is a crazy block (quilt). Colors are red, blue, green, yellow, gold, purple--many choices. The center ( a little off-center) is a piece of bargello. I want to make a bargello quilt one day and I thought this little piece would get my feet wet. I wouldn't mind if ones in my group would make crazy borders. Just please no black in this one. The block measures 22 1/2 inches square. Can't wait to start.

Happy New Years everyone.

Avis,

If your not happy with the border color then you should change it. But, in my opinion, I think it looks great just the way it is. Can't wait to see how your group enhances your center block.

Oh Linda. It's a crazy quilt center block! I love it. Wish I was in your group because in addition to adding a border, I would embellish your center block. How fun!
