Thanks Lillie.

Great block. I love the butterflies and the colors are scrumptious. This will make a stunning quilt.

And to whoever said we are all retired, I work full time and have a near-crippling social schedule sometimes (big family and lots of friends, but I love every one of them). I make time for myself to quilt.
Ok, here's my center block - I will confess I found this on eBay in a kit but have never done anything with this color or the rail fence pattern before. really looking forward to what the others will do with it. It is batik and bright lime green with orange, reds and some pink. I really would like to stick with these colors and just embellish the borders. I can't wait to see how it turns out!! this is my first RR so I'm excited but apprehensive in that I hope I do well on the others.

Carolyn - you are so right! I'm not retired either, work a full-time job and teach Bible class to 1st & 2nd graders on Wed night at church. Plus I work 12-9 on Thursday nite, as part of my work week. I do most of my quilting when I can't seem to sleep -just get up and sew till 5 in the morning, which doesn't help me the next day at work. But when I can't sleep I won't lay there, tossing and turning. have to get up and do something.
Beautiful center Debbie. Love the colors it will be a cheerful quilt.
Debbie, very pretty .this will be a fun top to work with as there are so many possibilities of colors to use. good job
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
Bonita, your block is beautiful. I know your group will do a great job in their borders too. I'll have to enjoy "watching" this RR but hope to be able to join in RR 4!
Wishing you a Happy & prosperous New Year!
GORGEOUS! Love the colors.

What should I do when ....
I pieced my individual blocks together to make 4 12" blocks. Now I'm measuring the 12" blocks and the diagonal seam lines (I paper pieced) through the center of the 12" blocks is not straight. I'm frustrated but I don't have enough fabric left to start over.
What would the experienced quilters do in the case? Basically, when I put two of the 12" blocks together, the seams are not going to line up straight.
Where did I go wrong? I am sewing a scant 1/4" seam . . . . and my paper piecing pieces came out measuring correctly.
I'm not looking to quit ... just to learn where I went wrong so I can correct whatever I'm doing wrong.
Kristen , Don't start over, it is your block, if you can live with it then who cares. Sometimes in paper piecing you have to pin the intersections to keep them from shifting. Sometimes if you sew over seams the whole thing will shift because of the bulk. I pin mine at crucial intersections, then pull out right before I sew them. Hope this helps, but I will say perfection is so hard to achieve... I have never got there in any quilt I have done. It's the little mistakes that make it yours. Just my opinion.
Kristin if your seam are off alittle No one is going to care ,but you. Mine are not always straight either. if its a center put a button over it as an embellisment no one will know .
Thanks, Patricia Faye, I'm sure we will miss you this round. Happy New Year to you also.
Oh Debbie I cannot wait to see this one completed. The colors are so bright and beautiful!
