Decided to go Patriotic since we have 3 grandsons in the Military.  This goes our daughter's middle son who is now in Iraq for his second 1 year tour.

I like what you've selected...you may discover #7 needs a change as you move through the mystery.

Sandi, Thank you.  I am open to any suggestions and changes.  We are working "blind" here. I was afraid fabrics 2-5 were too much alike.  Fabric 7 was just a "toss-in" for now.  Not knowing the pattern, I had no idea what color or value to choose.  I have several options to choose from.

I like the fabric choices, howere, after doing the blocks in part two, you may want to just switch up on of the Starts to another position.. LOL Just saying. It will be a wonderful gift to the lucky man.

I love all the different stars. Number 8 is my favorite.

Thank you, Jan

Number 8 is my one purchase for this quilt.  Just came Saturday.  The rest are from my stash.  I hope it fits in and they all go together OK. I wonder about the bright blue stars but wanted something brighter in the patriotic theme.  Any suggestions?  Was going to cut yesterday for parts 1 and 2 but "life" got in the way!  Maybe today.

Caryl Anne, Thank you for your comments

I am still up-in-the air on fabric 4.  Any suggestions anyone?  I'm going to wait on part 2 for a few days and check my stash for something else that isn't so "vivid"  Maybe #7 would be better there with another option for the blue stars that would blend in better or maybe another fabric alltogether.........Marsha

Caryl Anne, Correction on Fabric number - should be fabric 5 - the blue stars.  The mental "fog" has rolled in today.  I think I had better just finish MQ4 today and leave the mental stuff for another day.

How many projects do you have going? Can't wait to see your mystery quilt blocks. Really nice patriotic theme!

Yvette, I have TOO MANY projects going at once.  That is why I am so slow on this one.  I am having a hard time getting UNINTERRUPTED time to pin on the first border of MQ4.  The rest will go fast after that.  That one is my priority now.

The phone and doorbell keep ringing and the rain has finally eased up to let us get hay dried and baled.  That has given me little quilting time.  I have caught up with the Farmer's Wife quilt,  am planning my next similar-type hand-done sampler with all different blocks, and trying to finish about 20 wheelchair quilts for our local nursing home.  They will be my freemotion practice quilts because they are smaller and it doesn't matter to them what they look like - they just have to be cheerful.  I have put that project on hold because the nursing home population is only about half what it usually is.  By fall they will probably be needing more quilts.

I am anxiously waiting for part 3 of this quilt.  Everyone's parts 1 & 2 are so interesting and I keep wondering how the last fabrics will fit in with just one part to go.  Maybe I can start mine soon.

This is too long-winded for here, but....  here it is anyway.
