  • QM Scrap Squad

My name is Bettie Johnson and every time I come onto this site I get so excited about quilting. I have quite a stash of scraps for quilts and look forward to joining in this group. I will do my best to make a quilt each month. I am learning long arm quilting. I have about 8 tops to do right now with...

  • Re: July/August issue of Quiltmaker

Hello Kim, How does a person turn her mind set around to begin a scrappy quilt? I made my first quilt in 1992, a traditional rail fence and have never worked out a scrappy version of any pattern. I do, as most fabri-holics, have a great stash that for the past year has been steadily depleted. Now, I...

  • Re: How do you Organize your Scraps?

This is embarrassing to admit but I pretty much stuff mine into a large shopping bag on the floor. When it gets full, I put it in the closet and start another. I was going to say Bonnie Hunter's books, and it looks like I'm not alone. I love her patterns! Lots of scraps, It's Time to Quilt by Jeanne Stauffer and Sandra Hatch is a favorite of mine. It has everything from bags, to table runners, to bed size quilts.

There's a new book out from That Patchwork Place called Scrap-Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett . The sub-title is More Great Quilts from 2 1/2" Strips . There are 18 different projects, most are throw-size quilts, but since they are scrappy, making them any size you wish would be easy. Several...

  • Scrap Books: Recommended Books on Scrappy Quiltmaking

I'd like to start a list here of recommendations for great books related to making scrappy quilts. I'll add to the list regularly. I'd like the Scrap Squad members and all other members of this group to do the same. If you add to the list, please give at least the book's title, author...
