It is my favorite. I do a lot of scrapy pieces but usually of my own design. I am from Arizona in a town with a small quilt shop. I used to live in TN where there were several quilt shops close by. Now i have to travel 3 hours to a large shop. OH well, it is lots of fun!!! I am looking forward to see what others are doing and the color schemes being used. My wish list contains a longarm machine. I am placing hints all over the house for the holiday season!!!

I have quite a stash of scraps for quilts and look forward to joining in this group. I will do my best to make a quilt each month. I am learning long arm quilting. I have about 8 tops to do right now with two I just finished within the last 3 wks and one on the frame with 6 to go. Then I have 2 flannel quilts to make for friends. I love to quilt and I find my time in the quilt room is the most relaxing time and the most peaceful-well there are those days when things just don't go right, but that's life. I am a mother of three although we lost our oldest son 18 yrs ago in an accident. Our daughter is in Maryland with our 2 grandsons. Our youngest son lives in Gainsville FL. My husband has a 1965 GTO convertable which has won about 8 awards in the last couple years. We enjoy the car shows. They are very popular and you would be suprised how they are growing! Bob kept talking to his brother about his 1966 GTO that he rebuilt and within a year Steve had a 1970 dodge duster. The year maybe wrong. Him and his wife are at car shows almost every weekend now. Well, that's about it for now. Thanks for letting me join. I actually think you could call the wall hanging I made for my grandson a scrap quilt, because I went through my materials and got small pieces left from other projects or a fat quater here or there and well I will put the picture in for you to judge for yourselves. Thanks a bunch. Bettie

I would agree with Kim. Once you start making scrappy quilts, completely planned quilts can seem rather dull! The main thing I have learned is that value is way more important than color. In other words, the relative lightness or darkness of a fabric matters more than its color. You could make an entire quilt keeping in mind only value and you'd be pretty safe!

I do think the Scrap Squad will help to inspire you, and Bonnie Hunter's free patterns at quiltville.com are terrific. You'll be hooked in no time!

You can go to the quilty pleasure blog to see QM scrap squad reveals...mine will show up on the 15th.

You know how I got started on scrappy? I made a mystery quilt with Bonnie Hunter on her quiltville chat site.

It was really fun and now I am addicted to scrappy and find a planned quilt a bit boring.......I am making a wedding

quilt and started with about 20 different fabrics and now I'm just randomly piecing the winding ways pattern.

Happy Sewing,

I made my first quilt in 1992, a traditional rail fence and have never worked out a scrappy version of any pattern. I do, as most fabri-holics, have a great stash that for the past year has been steadily depleted. Now, I find myself with unused fabrics that just don't go together in other projects. In other words my stash has gone FLAT.. Too many off shades and a lot of tonal. HOW do I convert these wayward pieces into a scrappy quilt? What pattern would you suggest for a newbie? Also, where can I view the QM scrappy versions of the 'Spinout' quilts you all have made?

The first thing I did with this new issue of QM was start the work on my Secret Window.. lol
