Arrowhead blocks

Here's my first four untrimmed arrowhead blocks. The technique to make these was shown in Quiltmaker issue #136, and as soon as I saw it, I had to get some fabric out to try it. All of the Christmas themed fabric quilts done by the staff was inspiring! I made a handful of them, in scrappy reds with white, then made my Mom a table-runner for Christmas. I looked out in the other gallery for an 'Arrowhead' block category in the block file, but it wasn't there, or in any of those categories. If you'd rather not have anything but Scrap Squad officially assigned quilts here, feel free to move this (or tell me and I'll move it.)

Quilted with a simple all over meander with a muted tan paisley backing. A perfect comfy cozy "lie on the couch and read" quilt!

What a fun pattern to make. I had a large jellyroll I had bought some time ago on clearance and just never found the perfect project for it. I ended up cutting the 2-1/2" strips down to 2" to fit this pattern and I love the result. The strips added to a few coordinating fabrics from my stash added up to a colorful redition of Julie Herman's Raspberry Dessert.

I had done a project a while back with lots of black and white prints and had lots of scraps left from it. Yellow is my favorite color so I combined the two and came up with my version of Rhapsody in Bloom - looks a little like a bumble bee's Rhapsody! Great pattern with lots of secondary patterns to look for. The partial piano key border was one I used on a Christmas quilt some time ago and felt it added a lot of interest and fun to the quilt along with some geometric stitching in the border.

Here is my finished "flimsy" of Jaybird Quilt design's pattern Raspberry Dessert. I used bright scraps and a solid black to make this quilt. I made it exactly as the pattern instructed and it finished 76.5" x 76.5"

This was such a fun pattern that I am now making a twin size in the rainbow colorway.

I also made a runner out of Jaybird Quilt's Raspberry Dessert pattern. I made this runner out of spring fabrics and it finished quite large. Large enough to have a place of honor on my mantle!
