MNnancy:

Wishing puppy the best!  I imagine you can go online ahead of time to find out if the road is open or not the evening before you travel?

She won't have to stay overnight, will she?

Nancy, yes we will check online before we leave the house, but we have driven up there and had the hwy close between the time we left and the time we arrived at the pass.  It will depend on the online report  and the current mountain weather conditions which way we go.  BTW, we could have chosen to go to Wash State Univ Veterinary Hospital in Pullman Washington which is a little further, but no mountain pass to travel.  However, we knew we would spend at least one night so chose the Seattle area as we have a son to impose on for a free room.

The appointment is at 3pm next Tuesday, so we plan to spend that night (at DS#3's house) and drive back on Wednesday(hopefully).  We don't know if they will want to keep Tasha overnight ...they haven't said anything about that, but they haven't seen her or her xrays either.  I really hope not!  I need to get back home to pack up for the Retreat!!!

Thanks everyone for your prayers for Tasha.  She really is a sweet dog and we will miss her dearly when her time comes...

Darlene:
Will there be extra machines so I could borrow please?

Darlene, I'm bring my FW along (besides my Bernina) and as far as I know no one has spoken for it so it's available.

Only 8 days before I leave?   Eeeeeeeek   Today I will finish the door prize.   Well, I guess I could always finish it there.

I am behind on the mystery quilt and cutting the fabric for my project for the retreat.  Roofers are on the roof making noise, the cat is hiding, and it is raining. I am disgusted with the government shutdown. Guess it is time to make some pumpkin pancakes to sweeten my disposition :-)

Donna

Thanks for all the info on sites.   I checked out the Tradewinds at Depoe Bay for their whale watching rates.   It was $25 for a 2 hr excursion.   The site also stated that there were several whales being spotted in the area.   Might be interesting to get a group together to go.   There were also 1 hr excursions that I think were $18.

OH OH OH count me in!!!!!!!!

Yay Kris! And not a moment too soon!

I am really excited for you ladies! AND the weather is getting nice today! Weatherundergound gleneden beach will give you next week's forecast (can't add any links or I get moderated).

Also am making some (really chincy, but oh well) gift grab bags for when we get over to meet you. Will likely be Mon. (?) if that's all right as then you'll be settled in more.

Do you know what those post-its are on Randy's laptop???  Those are woodshops in the Spokane and Portland areas.  Looks like we are going woodshop-hopping on this road trip!   LOL

Thanks for the offer of a machine.Gini you have seen how we pack suitcases are a real challenge for us lol I am going to take yours and Nanas advice.I will bring 1large and 1small and some handwork.Yes Nancy Larry is going to fly would not be able to drive that length of time.We are still dealing with specialists and meds so we have chosen to fly with a stop over half way. This should work out for us with little stress for him.He is feeling good but can tire sometimes.I am getting so excited to be on my way and meet everyone at the ocean.Kris I am so glad that the stress of what to do has been lifted for you

See you all soon

I talked to Beachcomber's Haven.   We definitely do not need any more ironing boards or irons.   There are 2 or 3 in the Sandbox already, and every unit also has a board and iron that we can use.   I will bring some iron cleaner in case someone goofs and gets stuff on the iron.  I'll also bring some cloths that can go on top when someone is fusing or using a lot of starch.  This will save the covers on the boards.  They have 2 large cutting boards.  I will bring my large one and the small turning one.   There is a studio kitchen in the Sandbox, with microwave, sink and refrigerator.  I forgot to ask whether there are dishes and cooking utensils in the units with kitchens.  I will bring my stash of paper plates, cups etc.  I will also bring my crock pot and some other pans.  There are lots of clasps along the wall to hang design walls.  I am bringing my flannel one.  At Leavenworth, this is one thing we really lacked.   There was little space for design walls.  Here it looks like we will have a lot of space.

They also have "plastic sand buckets to use for wastebaskets,"  How many do you think Judy will need?

For those flying, we always bring plenty of cutting tools, rulers and other objects that are difficult to travel with.   No one is obligated to share, but it would probably be best to label whatever you bring.

Oh, and there are laundry facilities.  So you don't need to bring clothes for every day.

There is wireless internet access.  We will have individual tables and ergonomically designed chairs.  1000 sq feet of sewing space.

Thanks for finding out about the laundry.  It will help out a lot with packing.
