Jacy:

For those coming from far away, did you know Oregon has no sales tax. That's always good for fabric shopping, Washington's sales tax was over 8%.

Yup, it's 8.7% here in Bellingham and higher in other areas of the state depending on local metropolitan taxes.

Jacy

Thanks for the info.  I like no sales tax.  We have somewhere around 6 or 7%.  I don't even pay any attention anymore.   I have to pay it no matter what it is....LOL

Randy checked online and he found 75 restaurants in or around Lincoln City, and that's just down the road a few miles, isn't it?

Yes but  Subway, McDonalds, BurgerKing, Sambo's Pancake House, etc. are about 80% of that 75.  Of the remainder, most are associated with the casino or a hotel and I would put them at a par with a Denny's Restaurant.    There are a lot there, but I don't think you would be thrilled with the experience.  All of our old favorites are long gone and have mostly been replaced by the chain restaurants.

There is a restaurant at Salishan Lodge...a high-end resort a few miles south of Gleneden Beach.  I assume their restaurant would be excellent, but I have never eaten there.  Here is a link to their website:  http://www.salishan.com/

Besides Mo's, there is the Chowder Bowl in Newport. Donna or Pam, have either of you eaten there? I think George and I ate at this place. It looks familiar on their website http://newportchowderbowl.com/menu.html

There is also a restaurant just 6 miles south of the retreat in Depoe Bay, Tidal Raves Seafood Grill. I know we didn't stop there as it looked pricey and upscale but it gets rave reviews.

I don't think I have, but I know we stayed near Nye Beach one time so it is possible.  But I am thinking their logo really looks like Ivar's, so that may be what I am remembering...lol!

I know I haven't eaten at the Tidal Raves Seafood Grill...probably for the same reason you didn't.  We usually avoid the pricey/upscale places unless it's for a special event like an anniversary, etc.

It really is disappointing not to be able to point to a really good, moderately priced, seafood restaurant there anymore.  I am still hoping DN will be able to give us some ideas.

Randy's still reading reviews.  He definitely wants to try the Beach Dog for breakfast!

Go to Trip Advisor and choose Lincoln City restaurants.  There is a lot of variety and a wide range of prices.  I think Kyllos Seafood Grill sounds good!

All this talk about food!  So what is everybody going to be working on, quilt wise.  I'll probably have my FIL's wedding quilt.  But made some good progress yesterday.

Nancy, I just looked at the Beach Dog on Trip Advisor.  It is not all the way north into Lincoln City proper, but actually in Taft (an "old" town, now a part of L.City) that is south and closer to Gleneden Beach.  It does sound good.

Patti, I'm looking forward to seeing the wedding quilt. I love the projects people bring to these retreats. I'm still trying to decide which projects as I don't want to overload.

Dresden Heart, the DWR, (just about have the arcs done). State Block Swap sashings, Strata Star Christmas table topper,  scraps for Sylvia's bridal sampler blocks, perhaps fabric to make some Christmas postcards.

I'll probably cut that down to fewer projects.

Interesting menu; specializing in breakfasts and 16 styles of hot dogs.  I love hot dogs and a breakfast out one morning would suit me fine.

We'll have choices and not everyone will want to go to the same place at the same time anyway. I haven't seen anyone post a passion for frozen yogurt or ice cream. There is a Cold Stone Creamery in Lincoln City. Plus an All American Yogurt shop. Once or twice a month I indulge in my passion for frozen yogurt.

Judy

I like ice cream and frozen yogurt.   And I know Kris loves ice cream.

I think I am going to bring some wallhangings to work on and maybe some of the Union Sampler blocks to do and who knows what else.
