Patti:

Food, food, food.  Is that all we think about?  Nana, pies and shrimp?  I make a good Thai curry.   It's really easy and I can do it for everyone, if someone else takes care of the rice.

ROFLOL...come on Patti, if we can't eat it right now, we at least can talk about it!

By time for the retreat, we can just exercise very strong portion control and we will be A-OK!

Brown rice sound good to me.

I am taking a couple brochures with me to the sew-in at LQS, going to see if anyone there is interested in coming to the retreat.  Still need 2 more women in unit 12.   Although a couple women here have said they are interested, none have committed, and as I have paid for these spots already, I am interested in finding a couple others sooner than later.

Thought you might like to see a picture taken by my nephew on the Oregon Coast this last Monday!  I am sure it was chilly, but still beautiful!

This was quite a way north of where we will be staying, but still a great view for this time of year.

Do you suppose they ever get snow on that coast?

Yes, but not often...and it never lasts very long.

BTW, found out from my DS that it was 60 degrees when this picture was taken.  Oregon was having crazy inversion weather too!  60 Degrees at the Coast, 25-35 Degrees in the Willamette Valley (where Portland, OR - Eugene, OR are located) and again 60 Degrees at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood at 5900 Ft. above SeaLevel.

My nephew's kids were playing on the beach barefoot in January!  Very hard to believe when I was skiing in 8 degree weather only 300 miles away!!!

My DH and I honeymooned on the Oregon coast in Dec. '92 and woke up to several inches of snow one morning. It was magical walking the beach and then going back to the cabin to a roaring fire. Haven't seen snow there since tho.

Question for all of you Pacific Northwest ladies.....  There is a show called Pacific International Quilt Festival scheduled for Oct 10 thru 12 in Portand , OR.   What can you ladies tell me about this show.   Just may have to come into Portland a little early.

Oooo,  I think it is going to take me at least 2 days if not 3 to get to the retreat.  Nana, I think that may be a very worthwhile stop.

Patti, it's going to take me three days to there from Minnesota.  Why is your trip so long?

Enjoy the quilt show, girls!

Patti

I happened upon this totally by chance.  I was checking out quilting hoops and the site mentioned this quilt show.  If I understand correctly it is at the Convention Center in Portland.  I just may have to start checking into hotel accommadations.   I am thinking I will come into Portland on Friday and then spend Saturday at the quilt show before coming to the retreat.

Nana, I've heard of the Int'l Quilt Show in Portland before and know several of the shops that participate, but have never been down there at the right time before.  So, thanks for the heads-up!  Since I have family just south of Portland, I will definitely being going to this!  We will need to arrange to meet up for the day!  Patti?  Anyone else?
