Greetings everyone!
I am calling this week's Happy Hour Contest "I Spy...A Wonderful Quilt"
Here are the Rules:
1. Go into the Show & Tell Gallery of QCA. Browse through the quilts that are displayed there (or do a search on your favorite tags to dig deeper).
2. Pick out a quilt that you love (not one of your own). Tell us the name of the quilt and the QCA member who posted it.
3. Write a short note about why you think this quilt is wonderful. (Is it the color? The pattern? What is it?)
4. Anyone who posts a response below before midnight Centeral time tonight will be entered in a drawing to win a free year subscription to one of our sister magazine publications!
TIP: To make it more fun for others to see which quilt you have chosen, copy either the URL or the link for the image that you love into your response:
Make sense? Hope to see your favorites here soon!
I just love this quilt it is beautiful and for a first quilt I dont know what to say. My first quilt did not look like this at all. I think we can expect to find a lot of beautiful quilts from this quilter. Lisa http://www.quiltersclubofamerica.com/media/p/232320.aspx
I like Claudette's "My First Baby Quilt" for several reasons. First that it's that delightful, happy 30's fabrics and scrappy, which I love. Second that it's for a baby. Third, it's her first baby quilt. I love it. http://www.quiltersclubofamerica.com/media/p/234258.aspx

I suppose it's strange to be taken in by a quilt meant to celebrate but one special day in October, but as I looked through the quilts in the huge show and tell gallery I became sure of one thing: I wanted the quilt that I chose to have caught my eye to be one of joy and humor, full of fun. This particular Halloween quilt hit the mark! I can see myself working on something like this in the future. It appears to be a mixture of piecing and applique'. As a beginning quilter, a retired teacher who finally has to time to spend on delightful projects such as this, I knew immediatel that I wanted to work to acquiring the skills to make this quilt for my grandson. What a delight it would be to hang this up in my home to celebrate the season! Do you think that might be because of the many Halloween parades I had he privilege to attend?
My inspirational quilt is by Linnea Varner, having been inspired by work by Susan Garman (1996). It's so much fun! You can see the quilt that I fell for at:

There are so many beautiful quilts to look at and I like them all! The one that stands out the most for me is the Disappearing Nine Patch posted by Kim. Her colors are soft, warm and inviting. The patters looks like something I could do and would love to know what charm packs she used!

Jerry's Door is priceless to me. I love the mystery that unfolds in my mind as to were the door leads to. I usually imagine that it leads inside to a beautiful secret garden or an atrium. I can see all of the beautiful plants and hear the sound of trickling fountain. It's cool inside this place and has soft filter light.
I think any quilt that gets this much of my imagination going is an awesome work of art.

I think Pamela's Sunbonnet Sue (Sue through the Year) is very pretty. I love hand embroidered blocks, and I am always looking for new ideas for incorporating them into a quilt. http://www.quiltersclubofamerica.com/media/p/231356.aspx
Wow! These are all great picks...and so different from each other. Thanks for including your links...it's fun to see which ones you picked and why.
One of my many favorites is DWR made by Renea, love the double wedding ring pattern and hope to one day make one of my own, just looks to complicated for a beginner quilter.

Nice pick Ally. It's on my list of quilts to do too...but I want to play with curved piecing first before I tackle that one.
QCA Liz S.: Wow! These are all great picks...and so different from each other. Thanks for including your links...it's fun to see which ones you picked and why.
I agree, Liz - lots of WONDERFUL picks - it's fun to see what everyone responds to. Such variety! I'm not sure I could even pick a favorite - I love seeing every project posted. : )
Glad you finally made it back from your destination - what a long plane trip you had! And that you're still here holdin' down the fort on the Party Patio to boot. Thank you!
On our Patio tonight, we're having microwave popcorn (movie butter) and just enjoying the somewhat cooler summer night temperatures. The flowers area really blooming and the cherry tomatoes are starting to come in like gang-busters. Will need to find a good recipe for cherry tomatoes. Any suggestions anyone???

It's really a challenge to select just one quilt I like but I really like Chocake's Geckos. I love the flying geese along their backs. Her thread painting is really beautiful too.

Okay I don't know how to do that copy thing. But on page 91, I love Gini's Quilt she made out of blocks she received from her guild, they are simple blocks, but it is what she does with her beautiful appliques that always bring a smile to my face. There is something about all of Gini's quilts that make me feel very nostalgic.

Boy, this is really hard to pick your favorite quilt! I saw so many that I really liked! (One of my first favorites was Tic Tac Toe Baby, mostly because of the litte brown toy poodle! I have 2 black toy poodles.)
In the end I picked the Throw posted by LYDIA MARIA REIF DE PAULA I love the colors, preciseness of her work. It's bright and makes me feel good.
There are so many really nice quilts. Congrats to all the people who posted.
