Gina,

Sorry for the confusion, I quoted a post from Liz. That's a pic of her project. Sorry, Guess I'm confused about who's doing the barn block/quilt, but still looking forward to seeing it.

Me too. And I hope Liz will share some tips on her fabric origami. Looks like fun. Are you going to put a picture of your block in the media section?

Stephanie,

My block is in the show and tell gallery from when I posted to the block party contest. It is "fireworks in a dark night sky." I'm still learning to navigate around in here and have found lots interesting places. And everyone's very friendly.

Hi All, this is my first time to join anything like this. It feels like I am just fumbling around here right now but I'll figure things out soon enough.  I am a new quilter and am loving it!!  Off to check out what else is going on. Nice to meet you all!

Stephanie, I'll definitely show you all my finished barn when it's done. And I took lots of pictures of the origami crane while I made him. Later I'll post it on the site.

Gina C, Great to see you found the Party Patio. Your fireworks block is wonderful! Hope it inspires everyone to give the Block Contest a try!

This is so nice and summer looking-I can just feel the warm weather.  We seem to have rain every day and it is definately NOT like Kamloops British Columbia.  We haven' t had our 100 degree weather,  our pool keeps cooling off, only been swimming twice.  Please send some sun!!!

Misstitch, Welcome to the Patio! Pull up a chair and make yourself at home.

It's 102 degrees F here in VA today. HOT and sunny. Which is why I perfer to stay here on our virtual patio. Much nicer and the desserts that keep showing up in the recipe contest are all positively dreamy! Still I am happy to send our heat and sun up north...we have plenty to spare.

We have had to hot, humid weather also, here in MN. Today was the first day after about a week of over 100 degree index days. The recipes all look so yummy! My recipe which is quick and easy is called a Pina Colada salad. Take a large container of Cool Whip, 1 can of chunk pineapple, undrained and a box of instant coconut cream pie filling. Mix all together and chill.

Ahhh, the sun is finally down on the patio (at least on the East coast side of the patio - LOL). For those of you who are still checking in, I'll light up a few candles and lanterns. For those of you on the West coast, I hope you are enjoying a fabulous sunset this evening.

And for any of you who were here this morning when I showed you the origami crane I was working on, here he (she?) is with a few beaded embellishments, eyes and a loop to hang it:

Which makes me think that it might be fun for any of you who are hand quilting or binding a quilt to stop in next Thursday and show us pictures of what you are working on.

Liz, this is a very nice crane.  I am so sorry I missed the patio party.  I completely forgot about it.  I am getting ready to go home to New Brunswick to take care of my Dad while  Mom is having knee surgery Monday.  Since they are 95 and 88 they need support in their daily lives.  I  will have the chance to help my other brothers and sisters during this time.  Even though we are a big family we need to all be together in this to make it easier.

so even though I can't participate today as much as I wanted to I can wish that you all had a wonderful time at the patio party.  I will join you when I come back.

Dear Angele,

Wow, your parents must have had a long life together. I know how important it is to be with family...I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that your mom's knee surgery goes well. And definitely do stop by any Thursday through late August for one of our next Happy Hours. We'd love to see you again.
