Judy T I do the same thing. In making these blocks I have felt that I should have at least one fabric that recurs, but haven't done a thing about it. I thing if you could do that with the red that will really look good.

There is a mistake in the Borderland in Butternut and Blue book, Block 9, page 74

Under Rotary Cutting, D, it says to "cut 4 medium 2" x 5-1/8" rectangles".  It should say Dark.  If you look at the colored pattern pieces on page 75, you'll see the correct colors.

I love the block patterns and fabrics and the stories. I'm not crazy about her cutting instructions.

Judy, thanks for that info. I am having trouble with all my blocks coming out too big. But it is my fault. I thought stupidly that all the triangles should be cut larger and then trimmed down because I thought that they would be used in HST's. WRONG!  Now I have to redo 4 of the blocks that I did at Iowa retreat. And cut down all my pieces. Sometimes my mind just goes haywire. I'm not fond of her cutting instructions either. I guess she assumes that everyone is as smart as she is when it comes to making quilts.

Dim bulb?  I don't think so Sukochi.  I have so many dim bulbs and when I manage to catch a boo boo, it's nearly a miracle! LOL.

By the way, best of wishes for good results tomorrow and a solution. Not fun being sick so much.

Judy T, I agree about the directions. It is very difficult to think in terms of 8th, I'm doing good with 4th's. My saving grace is to cut a little larger. That still is no guarantee! But then math is not my thing. lol

OK, here's the next block. Oh, for pete's sakes. I've had this on my wall for a couple days and didn't notice until I posted this. One of the blocks is backwards. Fiddle. Well, I'll fix it later. I'm on my way out of town to Vegas with friends.

Judy, this is beautiful. I am back to working on the fourth block, if you can believe that. But I am just about done. Finally. I was going to finish it today. But, this contrast stuff has me rather sick. Anyway, I just have one more seam and I can move on. Jim said tonight that he is just so proud of me. I think I just might keep him.

Judy T In spite of the rouge triangles, I love the way the red is working out. Beautiful
