Hi group ,hope you all had a great Christmas . Have any of you sign up to the Civil War Sampler on the Craftsy Site? this is being done by Kay England . It is another great sampler .I have this class and thought it might be a good one for us to do .Let me know . there is no book to buy and we can do this with our stash . All yo would need to do is pay for the class .. and I think they are on sale right now . Barbara

I'm doing the class by Kay England on Craftsy . this is my first block . this site is just to post our pictures ,if you are taking the class . For some reason my colors just will not come thru ,the strips are brown and the light is a beige with brown and lt orange flowers.. I tried several different setting and lighting . Barbara

Here is my second block from the CW Bom, this was not a hard block to do, went really quick. I have changed my mind and I'm doing the 8 in blocks and I'm adding a one inch border to each one . I like how it came out . Barbara

Borderland Butternut and Blue Project

Barbara and Elaine I have had my nose in my book and have decided that I will do my quilt in honor of the Confederate, regardless of how mislead ; D, they may have been. So staying true to the time, the colors will be common and not frilly. There is only one piece of fabric I am glad I bought but it will not go into this quilt. As soon as we know which block we are starting with, I will let Candy know so she will be able to play with us. She isn't always able to jump on the sight. I am still pumped about this project and eager to begin. Elaine Keep Talkin' to Mary about joining us!

I just wanted you to know there is no free patterns there but if you can copy or get ideas off of it good for you that way mostly applique. I think I will probably do the block of week by barbara blackman though on the second page listed under our pages. Anyone want to join me?

Our first project ,and easy one

...Since this is our first project I thought we'd start with a nice and easy one, Doll quilts are for some reason becoming a big thing in the shops now , so I thought we 'd so some . There are many books you can use to get some easy patterns but I think the best one is The Civil War Sewing Circle by Kathleen Tracy, there are so many really wonderful doll quilts in this book you should be able to find one and make it your own. Tell us which pattern you picked and alittle history on it if you are able to .. but mostly have fun ,when you have finished them you can post them here and in the media section.

Quilter's Station in Lee's Summit has a great choice of retro fabric. Several have expressed interest in going in September, when it is, hopefully, cooler. Stay tuned for when and where.

Block #3 Southern Star.

I have gone ahead and posted this block so if any of you are ambitious you can do it . I have finished mine , this is a simi-difficult block to do ,as you will need to cut out your templates for this one. and they are curved so make sure you know how to attach these fabric together to sew .It really is not hard . I will see if I can locate a tutorial for everyone if not I'll see if I can make one .LOL I did find that due to all the curves and the center circle ,my block was alittle off ,but I'm not going tochange it as I think once it is all put together it will not be noticed. If you have any problems let me know and I'll do my best to help you out h the center circle does need to be hand appliquied to the rest of the pieces. Barbara

Hello Everyone:

We brought our mother back from Texas this past Tuesday to her final resting place. It was a long, hard 71 days sitting with her in ICU all that time, especially so far from home and away from friends.

Not only during this time with my mom, a week before she passed, my sister-in-law also passed away here in Missouri and I was unable to be here for her and her family.

It has been a long hard 7 months for me and I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that many of you lifted up on my family's behalf and for me.

I am now home, and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all I have to do. I have not worked on anything since my 3 week vacation with my mom turned into what it did. I have received many quilt blocks and fat quarters for the birthday blocks. I only have April, May, June, and July to get done, not counting the first block of the Butternut and Blue series.

I hope you all will remain patient with me as I attempt to get my life back in some similance of order.

I just thought it would be good to have a general discussion thread so here it is everyone

While I was going to VB I found some really great civil war kits and now I just need to find the time to work on them .One is the Battle Hymn of Republic Quilt ,and the second one is a kit of red and blue plaids that will be made form the Yellow Brick Road Pattern, this one I got at MSQC and Jenny Doan had one all done in blue plaids that was just awesome. I can't wait to start them both . I hope all of you have been finding really great patterns to be working on and will share them when you get finished .. Barbara

I want to welcome you to our new group .this group is for all of us who like Civil War fabric and Kansas Trouble fabric. . I hope we can do many projects together and learn some history of some of these fabric and the women and men who made and used these quilts. I hope you will all join me and we are going to have a really wonderful experience.. I have given this group this name for many reason.

1. ladies of the south carried parasols , and fabric to cover both CW and KT, I tried many names and they all sounded so nasty .

2,I did not want to infrige on any copyrights ,so I made up this name ,

A new Group Project

We have had some interest in doing a group project .the project is from the Barbara Brackman Book ,Buttercup and Blue ,Sampler from the Kansas /Mo Civil War border war . I d like to know how may of you would be interested in doing this project. IF so you will need to order the book. Amazon is ordering more and I think I got the last one ,and you can look around and see if it is on Barbara Brackman's site or any other site that sells books . If we have enough interest ,we will try and start this in late June . please let me know ,we will make this a BOM project .. thanks Barbara

I have received blocks for Candy's list from the following: Candis, Barbara, Susan, Yvonne, Tina, Margaret, Jacy, Judy T-Bellingham, Zsofia, Carol W., Gwen, Bonita, Karla, Sabrina, and Sukochi Lee. I aldo have 2 log cabin blocks that have not been signed and 2 blocks on route. I believe once the sashing, and boarder(s) are in place we will have ourselves a twin size quilt!
