Barbara:Here is my next block Temperance Block
I love it Barbara.
Your blocks are just gorgeous! Love the fabrics and the blocks. Great job. Are all of these blocks for the same quilt or are they for several?
Bonner Springs, Kansas
Phyllis they are for the same quilt . this is one of those Craftsy classes. Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
thanks Kris .
Dear Barbara, I love your fabrics and the blocks you are making from the class. I am wondering about your 'stretchy' fabrics. Are they not 100% cotton/ if they are then you must make a new edge straight of grain cut. they should not be stretchy this is bias stretch. I see the HST, bunched up a bit, to correct that use a bit of Elmer's school glue on the back of the piece you are sewing together. That tip really does work. I started using the glue about a year ago while working on a sh** load of HST and QST. a life saver. The tip came from S Shumaker, about lining up the points on squares, & dealing w/ our bias edges. I think if you try that glue you will find it a fabulous notion.
Carol Anne thanks for the tip .I was just going to use a light stablizer on them as I have a ton of it , the fabirc was just on the grain its and is 100% cotton but I think it is a second of the fabric ,I bought it at a quilt show and the fabirc was on the cheaper side. thank goodness I didn't buy atot of it. Thea told me its a manufacture issue with China making the fabric they don't take the time to make sure the fabric is laid on on the grain as well as it is when made here. I really liked the fabric , and I 'm going to use it up but I gonna have to give it some support. . Also thanks for your kind words on the blocks .. Barbara
Oh good Barbara at least it didn't hurt the pocket book, that would really be a shame. I use a very light stabilizer (actually an interfacing) behind fabrics pieces for ITH appliqué, I buy it by the roll on Black Friday from Joanns it is only $3 that day and $10 regular use your coupons people, it is good to back the squares that you may be not using right away or mailing to others. This stuff is not good for anything else it gets poor reviews, but I love it for the same reasons that the reviews hate.. does that make sense? I use this interfacing for squares I make for pillow tops, having just the light stuff keeps the drape nice while giving the piece stability while laundering. Pellon Jas Val-U-Fuse 10 yards or Pellon Ultra light Fusible 8 yards $8.
Carol Anna, that 's how I got mine to , so much cheaper this way .. Barbara
I hope to work onthe remainder of these blcks here in the next few days, I have pulled up all the blcks form the craftsy site so I'll post them as I get them finished. I can proobalby get these blocks for you from my EQ7 if any of yo wnat them ..just let me know . I can also get the one posted earlier form my block base as well . Barbara
I finally made time to get a block done today , this one is called Union Pride. Lots of HST but not a hard block to do . the cream fabric has a nice pattern on it of soldiers and tents ,hard to see it in the picture. Barbara
