Ahhh frustrations...... three more days till we see the next block.   hahahahaha  :)

Our trip is going great, sunny here in Richland and just love it.... visited several quilt shops in the Tri-cities area and bought new fabric  :)

We will be heading home today, and I am just happily working on some hexagons with scrap fabric, I'm sure I will come up with something to make but just enjoying the hand work for a change.

Okay here we go with number 2 you will need this site http://incompetech.com/graphpaper/tumblingblock/ and where it says block size you want 2.00 and you need 18 tumbling block diamonds.

For fabric choices you really need a light, medium and dark otherwise your tumbling blocks wont tumble as well.

sorry the sites being a pain in the butt, and is on a go slow so this may take some time.

you need 6 of each fabric and you need to leave the points of fabric at the end you can cut them back a bit but not all the way otherwise they are hell to sew together (i know i did it) oh on the basting on these diamonds i found it easier to baste through the papers on this one.

When youve basted your diamonds, play with them to see what effect you think looks best, then put 3 together to form your first block.

Sew them all into three diamonds first and then sew them into there rows 3 on the bottom 2 on the middle and 1 at the top, press well, take out your papers, press again and then applique to your backgound if your points of excess fabric stick out press them under well before appliquing the peice to your background.

On this one i had made one years ago, but hadnt done anything to it, so here you can see what a difference colour choice lookss like.

Any questions please ask, have fun.

lots of love

I take little cat naps all day and night...about 2 hours at a time, every few hours.  I have my diamonds and fabric cut and will baste some before the next catnap. LOL   I have to get a few hours of sleep because tomorrow I HAVE to get to the fabric store, I need batting, fabric for the floral swap, thread and backing for 3 quilts so I can officially finish my UFO pile and only have WIP's  (BOM, EPP, Craftsy and Christmasall year projects)  I cannot wait to finish the 4 patch hearts top and finally have a quilt I made on my bed!   Off to watch TV baste some....TTFN

Pretty tumbling blocks Frances.

Not sure when I'll get to it but, for now, I'll share the one I made for "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler".

This was made in Oct 2010. The pink is actually the wrong side of the fabric.

Thanks Frances.

The background is 6.5 inches unfinished. Will have to check diamond size.

Oh my gosh...that's a tiny tumbling block Kris! lol  Very nice work too.   My tumbling blocks are wonky and I am going to just cut out more fabric and try again. I think I was just too tired and should have waited until i got some sleep and tried today...oh well, lesson learned!
