Please use this thread to discuss blocks 19, 23 & 24
Post photos, frustrations, tips and tricks, oohs and aahs.
Here is Week 19, with the Hogwart's crest. Pretty easy to do! Wish I had used a stronger yellow or gold. It looks better 'in person' than it does in the picture.
Here is Week 23, the Quill. I was having a terrible time finding fabric that looked like feathers. But I found some fabric that was supposed to be fur. When I used it on the diagonal it makes decent looking feathery lines. The little short white book will have to be the Wizards Book of Sonnets...looks like a poetry book, doesn't it!
I replaced the books in Week 24 with some potion bottles found on the fandom site. The pattern was enlarged by 175%. I haven't thought of all the label names, but I think the red one needs to be 'Dragon's Blood'. The blue is harder to name! I think I will either embroider or quilt a nice big fat spider web in the blank area above the bottles. And I am considering adding a little 3-D black spider~~~uck! I know! But when we remember how important the spiders were in the Harry Potter stories I really don't want to leave them out!

Max...Again... wonderful blocks! The quill is great! You are giving me ideas for mine. ;) The name for your books are really good. And the potions bottle are awesome. How about Syrup of Mandrake for one of the vials? Or Aragog Venom? Whomping Willow Sap? lol That sounds more like I am swearing.
Love the blocks Max. That quill fabric was a nice find. I really like the colours in that block. Nice work on the crest. I like bottles too.
Debbie (Dainty): Whomping Willow Sap? lol That sounds more like I am swearing.
LOL Debbie. Great suggestions.
Debbie,
Whomping Willow Sap? Say that five times fast! I have found "Acromantula Venom", but it is supposed to be deadly. Somehow I can't see it sitting around on Harry's bookshelf. I'm liking Whomping Willow Sap better and better. That could be the bigger red orange bottle. THank you!
http://www.hp-lexicon.org/index/master-index-intro.html As a reward for coming up with a name for one of the bottles, here is a fun link. Click on a letter of the alphabet, and all kinds of HP stuff comes up beginning with that letter. You can spend HOURS in this site it you aren't careful! Too much fun!
Max,
Beautiful work as always.
Robin
Here is block 23, The quill. This was a easy block to do. But I didn't have any fabric that looked like feathers. Soooo I took a chance with the fabric and I actually like it.
:)
Debbie
another great block. That fabric works really well for the quill.
Boy! You are really keeping you sewing machine humming! This block is beautiful!! Can't pick just one single favorite fabric in the whole block. The quill looks wonderful! Great job!
Thanks Max and Kris... down to 6 blocks to piece. :)
I love you quill. I think the fabric is great. Keep going you can do it.
Thank you Robin. :) (My Cheerleaders are great! lol)
Robin: Debbie, I love you quill. I think the fabric is great. Keep going you can do it. Robin
