Okay if ive counted correctly this is Septembers block as im going to be away through most of August, so this ones very early.

You will need http://incompetech.com/graphpaper/octagon/ and my octagons are 2 inch however the problem with that is your squares will be 3/4 of an inch so if you are not comfortable working with squares that small make your octagons 3 inch and just use less of them. I used 16 Octagons.

wasnt sure whether to put this one on the diagonal or not but then decided.

Anything ive forgotten please let me know.

lots of love

I hope you're having a great vacation Frances!  Well, to all the rest I worked on this block and this is what I came up with :)

Very nice Sandy.  Quite the creative alternative.  I'll have to think about this.  I am so far behind...lol!

Is the block (background) size still 13 and 1/2 inches for these EPP blocks?

I saw that in Frances' first post, but didn't see if it was modified anywhere later.  I have my Block #1 GFG done and ready to applique to the background but need to know the block size first.

Yes, you are right 13 1/2 inch blocks.... at first I think it was said 13inches and that is what mine are cut at but I think Frances is doing 13 1/2inch blocks... I had already cut mine so I'm using theses :)

oh, I found it... it is the second posting on the first block Grandmothers flower garden... in the pages area.

:)   well.....  I have a hard time with the smaller sizes ...soooooo this was my take on it.  And I'm sure it took a lot less time as well ;)

and I keep hearing "this is suppose to be fun!"  so this was more fun for me

The background is cut at 13.5 inches and will finish at 13 inches when the blocks are sewn together.

Sandy,

I love it, its wonderful.  As for block size because i know that im prone to slight mishaps in my calculations ive cut my background squares 13 1/2 inches and when finished i will trim to 12 1/2 inches because i have a 12 1/2 inch square template and for me that makes things easier.

lots of love
