Here is my block 14. My wand handle kind of faded into the background. But that is ok. Not all the blocks can be "fab". :) I may outline it with thread, when I get to that point. The book names are....Fantastic Flighty Beasts and Fifteenth Century Fiends. :)

Debbie,

it's still a "fab" block. The handle has low contrast with the background but I can still see it. and it looks great to me. I'm really digging that monster fabric.

lol Thank you Kris. Just saw your comment. Here is block 15. I changed it. Did not like the one in the org quilt. And I am now half done. :)

Oh Debbie. Your blocks look wonderful together. Very nicely done.

I like your change to block 15.

Debbie,

Tom's diary is really good!  Love the pages fabric.  Glad you changed the block to use this picture. The other one is just a bit ...uh..confusing?

Your blocks are really looking so good. The background color really sets the other fabrics off nicely.

I'm with most everyone else that this block is pretty boring, but I made it anyway thinking it's a chance to personalize the quilt a bit for my son, who's told me he'd be a Ravenclaw if he attended Hogwarts {lol} and that their house colors are blue and bronze.  Now I'm crossing my fingers that the bronze fabric will wash/dry ok...used just slivers to hedge my bet.  The book volumes might get some kind of Ravenclaw names, too, to help the bundled book idea along too, but I don't remember seeing any like that on the list.  So my imagination will run wild  :o)

Jen,

your fabrics are wonderful. They really add interest to this bland block.

Nice job Jen.  I'm planning on making mine into a set of The Standard Book of Spells (Grades 1 -6) by Miranda Goshawk since there are six books in this set.

That is a good idea...hadn't thought of that.  I'm still figuring out if I want to try using the embroidery fonts in this newfangled machine or not to do the lettering.  I'm afraid I might spoil the books pieced together already and have to redo.  I recall lots of good approaches sprinkled in the first batch of ladies who did the PoD...will have to review as I get closer to that phase.  As for me, I'm punching out blocks this week as I have to go underground again next week as #2 son has spring break  :o).  Here's 14.  Slimmed the wand and went for some neat owl fabric I found.  I'm blessed to live near a discount fabric warehouse...thrill of the hunt going through there!

Beautiful block Jen. I like the fabrics in both books.
